OK so we had a combo for Jack (capsule that clicks into the pram) but it won't fit a toddler seat. We will keep that one for the first wee while probably and I'll just take #2 around in a sling, but my problem is what sort of pram to buy for a toddler and baby?
I like the P&T's, but OMG at the price! I probably use my pram once or twice a week (probably would use it more with 2 kids though) and I'll be returning to work full time mid next year so don't know if I'll get good use out of it? On the other hand, it has good resale value and they're very sought after down here (chch). My other option is buying something cheaper (which DH is a fan of) but mostly that means having a front upright toddler seat. My boy is quite lazy when he wants to be and likes to recline  so don't know if that's the best option. Also, I've heard terrible things about those types of toddler seats. My boy is quite small so weight is by no means an issue.
If they were closer together we would have gone for a side-by-side but it's not practical for us now that there'll be a 20-month age gap, but I also hate the fact that the younger ones seem to be chucked 'in behind' the older child and can barely see in front of them. Suggestions, advice, anything please! I would like to think $600-700 would be our max (my thinking, not DH's) for a P&T, but of course then there's the stormcover, suncover etc and it all just adds up to something ridiculous. I need help and it's driving me batty lol |

I thought for ages about this too and ended up with a p&t.
You dont' have to buy new though. When I searched TM for weeks there were often ones from chch or people willing to send them around the country so that's an option and that saves a couple hundy as often they have all the covers etc selling in the auction with the pram. Otherwise if you just got the pram you don't have to buy the suncover til summer and you can pick the covers up for cheaper on TM too. |

We have a 22 month age gap and a Double Mountain Buggy. Its great, and I do use it even for the simplest things, like getting into playcentre from the carpark sometimes! I also use it more often than I did the single one, although I still have the single for when mum has one of them for me. I got my buggy second hand and there are always loads on TM. Even at nearly 2.5, Leah still prefers to ride rather than walk so I guess it depends on what your boy likes. PS- we had a stroller with a toddler seat and it sucked big time, wouldn't go with that option. -------------

Emz, Smith City has a sale on P&T at the mo and they are $649 (I think??) whihc includes the toddler seat. Mum rang me about it, so I could pass onto another friend. The only thing is that its the graffiti print so not sure what it looks like but it is the sport. I never really used my sun shade or rain cover. -------------

The toddler seat on the P&T doesnt recline that much, (especially when its positioned on the front, which is where Jack will sit when number two arrives), so if thats a major factor I would opt for a side by side.
We use ours very rarely .. but the MB side by side was a tad big for us, that was the main reason we got a P&T. If its possible for you, I would try and pick one up off TM that included the covers as those alone are about $60 each! ------------- Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months) I did it .. 41 kgs gone! what is it about toddler seats that people don't like? we used our bertini jet with the seat on the front for jack without problems.

I had a side by side and a one in front of the other both picked up for around $100 each off trade me. One in front of the other was great for the mall and the side by side was great for walks or any time Jack would fall asleep (like orana park), or when you need a big basket. I haven't used a pram in about 6 months anyway so I wouldn't splash out too much, also my kids trashed ours so we couldn't of sold them on for much anyway. If I was you I'd save double prams as a favourtie on trade me and see what comes up. Good luck

We will have a 27mth age gap and I have bought the MB Dble. Personally I prefer the side by side as opposed to one of the kids being in front or below the other ------------- Lindsey

we have a 20 months age gap and the p&t has been great with 2. We already had it and thought it was great with one child but for 2 is it great!!
I was worried about one child being in the back but Amy always sits there even though she is bigger - most toddlers seem to like it better. i think it is because they know that they are more likely to be about to be allowed to get out and walk ! -------------

We also had this dilemma with buying a pram. We originally had a babylove pram but needed something with a toddler seat so opted for a phil and teds, because the additional bits and pieces were readily available and I liked the idea of the inline buggy. Our personal opinion after owning this pram for four weeks is that it is a very expensive pram which is not as great as it seems. Maybe we have just had a bad run with ours, but it definitely does not live up to our expectations for a buggy of this price! I would reccomend you hire one from baby on the move before buying and see what you think, because checking it out on the shop floor and using it with children are two very different things. Just have to add that I would not of survived without my P&T's. I used it a lot more once second baby was born, as walking got me out of the house and kept me sane. we also have the dilemma of trying to decide if we bother to get a pram/buggy that has the option for Caitlin (She'll be just over 3 by the time bubs arrives). I like to get out of the house too and go on walks for exercise which would be near impossible with miss C tagging along walking.
We've been to a couple of the baby shops to test drive some prams, C hated being in the P&T inline as she was all squashed up in the back when the top bit was in the newborn fully reclined position and was screaming to get out, fair enough as it was right in her face! lol The only thing that I'm worried about with the side by side ones is getting into shops  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

yip your right littlestar - when the main seat is in NB recline the toddler seat goes on the front, it certainly would be squishy at the back!!
When we first bought our P&T sports, Bay was 3.5 yrs and astin was newborn and after giving it a few test drives we decided to go with buying it but scraping the toddler seat because Bay was getting past that stage and was a bit big for a pram by then. Now we will have a NB and 2yr old so have got the P&T dash with the toddler seat. I know your probably not meant to but whenever Bay would get tired while walking he would just sit in the foot rest at the front of pram! that was on the sport though, the dash has a different foot thing making it imposible. |
