I need some help our little girl is turning 5 in May and I want to get her a portable cd player.  When I talked to my mum about it she didn't think it was a wonderful idea  she thought that it would isolate her. So just wanting some help would you buy yr 5 year old a cd player.

she is a very social child

thanks for your help in advance

Absolutely

Janaya's had one since she was 3! She has her own little collection of cds and usually listens to her music in the evenings just before bed. She also pops it on in the weekends while shes playing dolls etc.

She also has a lot of read-along/audio type books as well.

Totally.

Also good for in the car if you're sick of listening to kiddie music! My sister and I both had our own 'walkman' and would listen to our own tapes in the back of the car, especially on long trips. Brilliant.

Alia in the last 2-3 months has started listening to her music to go to sleep at night. She also puts in stories as well. She absolutely loves it.

She has our mini stereo that DH put in her room while undercoating the hallway & it's stayed there cause she loves it so much. ( not that the hallway got it's topcoats yet LOL)

Definitely won't isolate her!

Did I say yes??? I think I did, I can't remember. Yeah I did so long as the little person doesn't wreak it it'll be a good gift.

We didn't get a portable one - we got a mini system stereo and she has that in her room - mostly she still uses ours in the lounge but when she needs some time away from her younger sister, or when we are sick of listening to the same song for the 10th time - she goes off to her room and puts on her own cds and chills out in her own time.

Sometimes it's good for them be able to have their own space and to learn to take themselves away from things and have some time just to themselves... especially as they get older and their siblings get more annoying! lol
