B and I finally reached the end of our tether today.
As some of you know, we were meant to be buying a cot second hand of his cousin but since this was discussed over a month ago she hasn't been able to come up with a cost of what she wanted for it.
So we made her a (generous) offer. Still no answer as to whether that was fine or not.
Now I know I'm only 22.5 weeks preggers but our thing is that we only have 3 months of work left for me which when your still needing to buy, well, everything, is not long. I've been wanting to get organised. I was dreading her turning around at the last minute and saying soemthing like, "I've changed my mind", or naming some ridiculous amount for the cot.
it hasn't been used for 2-3 years so we didn't think it would take THAT long to decide if $300.00 for the cot alone was good enough.
So after our last message was ignored last night, I marched on down to my trusted Mama Mia's and ordered a new Touchwood in snowflake wash, Heritage design. At least this way we get the cot we want!
Anyway, rant over. I know part of this is nesting and preggy hormones but I really wish when people offer things they then wouldn't muck a person around!

As I have said already, good for you! For me it shouldn't take this long to know if what you have offered is acceptable or not.
And, now you have a new cot, exactly in the style and colour you want!

good on you paws!! i think $300 for a second-hand cot is VERY generous offer and if i was the cousin i would've jumped at it!!! you would think she'd want it out of the way and the $$$ in the bank..i know i would anyway
yay for your brand spanking new cot!!

Atleast this way you avoid family dramas if she wanted more for the cot, or decides she wants it back etc.
And you get a BRAND NEW cot... I wish I'd had one!
Enjoy it Paws

Ooooo that sounded very unsympathetic... wanted to say that I'd have got fed up with her taking so long too.

New cot - very well done. The cousin has taken this long that you could probably get by with not saying anything and they'll forget all about it anyway.

I would have done the same thing. We got given a cot, and it took until last week to get it finished (repainted) so that Mason could sleep in it finally. I wish I'd just had the courage (and cash!) to go out and buy a new one at the start.
Don't forget to leave some things for when you finish work though. In my 3 weeks after finishing work I was SO BORED!

Good on you, Paws, for taking a stand, and making a decision! She was taking too long to give you an answer (what is it about family that thinks they can take forever?) and now she's missing out on an easy sale. Her loss, your gain (of that nice new cot!)

If she does turn around and offer you the cot, take an opportunity to make your point VERY clearly - being that she was too slow, so TOO BAD !!
