So who else is going to be watching tonight? Is it just me, or is the NZ accent getting even more painful to listen too? I have a feeling I'll be watching half of it cringing.

I'll be watching just to see what it's like. I'm guessing it will be highly embarrassing like most NZ copies of american shows. Hopefully I'm wrong.

ME! I am really looking forward to it but I'm afraid its now way going to live up to Americas Next Top Model. I agree the NZ accent on the adds sounds shocking!

I am a little gutted as once again all my friends have got together for a next top model watching party and didnt bother inviting me So I will be sitting watching it all on my lonesome.

Me! Although I'm thinking it will be way more cringe-worthy than ANTM....but looking at some of the ads, it looks like they might take the the piss out of some of the girls

I just think it's going to be a train wreck that will have me cringing. 12 adolescent girls with heinous accents and issues.

Oh, like I'm so superior!

I wish Project Runway was on earlier.

YEP!!  I'm watching it.  Even if the accents annoy me, along with the bitchiness that comes with it, it'll be interesting!  I've been waiting ages for this to be aired!

accents don't bother me, but i feel too mean judging these girls like I do with ANTM! guess cause I know some of my students from past schools have auditioned, so i feel a bit protective. Bugger, cause the mean cattiness is the best part!

also, "YOU"RE GOING TO NEW YORK"
vs
"YOU'RE GOING TO>>>queensland"...yeah, not so much

and don't get me started on "heels by hannahs"

There are some pretty girls in that lot.. some I would even say are prettier than ones I have seen on ANTM.. although Tyra doesn't always go for "pretty" does she?

Wtf is up with the chick with the blonde afro though?! Sorry, but all I could think of was some sort of albino hills-have-eyes kind of character.. was she taking the piss with that hair? haha

okay, am over not mocking them,

if i hear that red-haired girl going on about "how experienced i am" - bet she's been in like the warehouse catalogue or something, and done a runway for her mum's friend.

and here come the tears.

Oh- not mocking is well and truly over.

Hey Ellen - Whitney won last week on ANTM.

God NZNTM is bad, bad, bad - but if for no other reason than to annoy hubby I'll watch it (pay back for the cricket) hehehe.

DH watched it with me - but now has decided he's NEVER watching it again cos the girl with BIG tits didn't get through!  Haha.  But the chick that got picked last into the top 13 I CAN'T STAND.  She's going to annoy me a whole lot and hope she doesn't last much longer.  I think the accents are made worse by the fact they are all very young and don't talk very well IMO.

Oh no Liz - more mocking def needed.....

'God I just want to force feed them all pizza and then let them totter around in their Hannahs heels and glassons hot pants.

I thought that they all had a similar look though, expect for the sisters from Dunedin who I quite liked.

Oh and the judges are soooooo painful. Sure they know their stuff, and havent they done well to cast people who match the ANTM judges (camp fashionista, masculine shaved hair photographer, straight talking experienced model/talent agency owner / "super" model- btw has anyone actually heard of her before - I thought Kylie Bax was the original kiwi supermodel??)

I didn't find it as bad as I thought I would . They had to let the last girl through for the drama she would bring. There's one girl who looks quite eating disorder-ish.

And the accent . Here's my linguistics lectures coming back, but the scary thing is that NZ young women tend to lead changes in sounds, intonation and vocab. We're going to have whole lot of NZers butchering vowels, and saying "you know" with a painful rising intonation in the next 10 years.

i loved Teryl-leigh. What a lovely down-to-earth woman. just loved how she was going on about how you don't need to be nasty to others to get to the top. i often wonder about the "bitchiness" on american shows and think "can they not see what they look like" - but then i remember that it's a tv show, edited to sh*t, and a lot of people would do anything to be on tv.

Hosanna is in cause she will be great tv, so is the girl who was sick....Sarah?

Yup, several are there for their dramas, not their talents.

And yay re Whitney winning, but when did size 12 become plus size? (I know, I know, it's all fashion sizing but still)

The cringe worthy young people rise at the end of the sentence like they are asking a question with every statement is enough to put me off. Oh, and of course, the Like, OH MY GOD, like stuff. *blerk*
And WFT?????       "Heels by Hannahs"? hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha....

Speaking of "accents" am really loving the new Underbelly, but bloody hell, listening to the aussies butcher our accent is reaaaaaalllly bad.

Slightly off topic, but when my friend from Perth came to visit a few years ago she said that Motorway Patrol was one of the most popular progammes in Aussie, and she suggested we drive over the harbour bridge with a mattress on the roof of our car to see if we could get on the show, lol

I watched it, yep it's pretty bad but it's lighthearted, non thinking TV hehe! Which is about all I can handle at the moment.

I thought all the girls were really beautiful compared to some they get on ANTM, so it'll be interesting to see how they photograph.

I used to love watching Project Runway but it's on too late for me now

LOL! Funny you say that though as when I was in London not so long ago, they were playing Motorway Patrol from here - my flatmates watched it every week (they weren't kiwis) - they were super old episodes aswell, it was from when paper licences were still around!

I watched it and couldnt believe it.... seems like its a spoof of ANTM!! Jeepers and i agree with whoever it was that said they had never heard of the models they talked about as being new zealands most famous! I think it must have to do with Models not supermodels? Supermodels are normally curvier yea? Coz they didnt mention, Kylie Bax, Nicky Watson or Rachel Hunter? I dunno... unfortunately though i will be sticking around to watch it just curious to see who wins!!

Cracked up when jade (i think it was) was talking to the camera and finished with "do ya know what i mean"??

I saw people talking about Angela Dunn who is thought of as NZ's most successful model on trade me and going who in the hell...

I'll fill ya in.

Back in the 90's she worked for Dior (I think) or one of the big fashion houses like dior or chanel or lagerfied and was a muse. ALso a regular in vogue etc. Far more european and catwalk and "medl like" than "our Rach" and was ba bit before Kylie Bax's time. Very very beautiful and glamerous red haired lady.

Nicky Watson has had limited success as a model overseas, mainly successful here and Oz. I think she is more "infamous" than famous, known mostly for gettign her tits out and husband stealing now! lol!

Rachel was well known as a Serial Rock star dater before she married Rod Stewart, and had good success modelling overseas, and is probably most noted (apart from her relationships) for her success with Sports Illistrated...

See, I might be a fat tart but I do love those gossip and fashion rags...

I think part of the reason it's so bad is that it is trying too hard - ANTM is fantastic cr@p tv as it's so over the top and camp - it doesn't take itself too seriously.

The NZ version is dull dull dull - the host (Sara?) has no charisma - Tyra she ain't!

I watched it for the first time tonight.
(sorry I don't know all their names).
The older of the sisters, with the blunt fringe, is stunning. She reminds me of Kristen Morrell from Goldenhorse. She has a bit of a temper on her though.

I have a very strong dislike towards one or two others.

Not as bad as I thought it would be.
DH and I had a ball mocking the accent and pretending we could do better

(reason #59 why I love DH: He LOVES girly shows and is terriffically bitchy!)

I haven't watched it , feel too guilty , seeing as they BEGGED me to audition for them and all , but told them I was busy with other commitments

The judge, with long black hair, now hes either my old makeup tutor, or my old makeup tutors identical twin .
AHhhh, those were good times, dancing on the tables in class , smoking in the elevators etc etc ...

Alsoooo, my friend is a fashion designer and she says some of the girls (she didn't say names) have modelled for her on fashion shoots etc before , are they allowed to do that ?

I love how all the girls say "Oh, I was so crap" after each photo shoot.
It's such a Kiwi thing to do!
The Americans are like "oh, I was fierce! I rocked that shoot!" Even though they were crap

I thought one of the girls last night said she'd done some catalogue work?

I was always under the impression they were allowed to have done modelling work in the past, but I don't think they're allowed to have current representation.

Clearly, I've thought about this too much. Now I must go and watch my Shortie catch-ups

I know Colin from working at St Lukes when we're at School, he used to work at McD's and went to MAGS.

I thought it was hilarious, its the funniest thing I've seen on TV for ages. All the cliches, and I know they're not actors and they obviously don't have a script, but the judges are awful.

The young girls are so funny, so much angst for such young girls, and the two sisters bitching at each others, I love it more drama than shorty st.
