I have a heart murmur - i only found out last year... from fainting at work..

they think i have had it since i was born but never had to have any heart checks or anything so just found it now..

what i have found they are quite common and very managable

I have had mine since i was born. I had tests done when i was 21 because my heart started playing up. They did an ECG and a ultrasound and the doctor said it hadnt got any worse. then the doctor said that if it does in the near future then they will look more into it more

I don't mind Oxy, it would be good to hear how it affects others especially since I only just found out. But I did a bit of searching and it sounds like it's really common to develop one in pregnancy. I've been a bit dizzy and short of breath - would that be the murmur? (Or maybe my bra is too tight )

Supposedly the ones developed during pregnancy are usually 'innocent' and you don't need to worry. But the doctor sent of a thing to the heart people to get me checked out anyway, though it sounds like it might be a long wait. Actually I think my brother just found out he has one too last year, so as soon as I tell my family I guess I can discuss it with him too.

I have a heart murmur also and have done since I was born.

Apart from the odd fainting incident it has never really caused me too many issues.

It made absolutely no difference to my last pregnancy, and I didn't recieve any special monitoring due to it.

I had a heart murmur when I was born and was monitored till I was about 13 when it apparently went away. I don't know too much about it but mustn't be too serious if it can just go away like that?

**LURKER**

Esme had a heart murmur while indside me for a bout 3 weeks towards the end of my pregnancy. It scared the hell out of me because you could see on the scan that her heart wasn't beating right and the doctors were calling other doctors in and not talking to me just each other in doctor talk that was over my head lol. They eventually explained how common it is and luckily it went away.

I develop one during pregnancy, it was picked up at 20 weeks with Maya and again at 7 weeks with lil miss but I don't have it when I'm not pregnant - it's apparently related to the extra blood flow when pregnant. I didn't have to have any special care or anything, it was just something the OBs remarked on when they examined me, and they said it is really common. I did have low BP as well, not sure if this is related.
