My MW told me on Tuesday at she thinks I will be a good candidate for a VBAC  We spoke about what went wrong with Cadens birth and it was nothing to do with my body it was caden being a big boy and in a bad position at the time of labour etc.
Sooo, she will still refer me to the specialist at 35ish weeks and I will discuss things with him, but its looks like Im going to definitly be able to try VBAC! Ladies who have been through a VBAC, what are some ways I can prepare my mind and body for this? I am feeling quite worried about it but excited also...I want to make sure I go into it with an open mind and as relaxed as possible. ------------- |

I'm not sure about preparing, basically I kept meaning to read up on VBAC and also just recap on labour stuff in general as I never went into active labour with Spencer but I never got round to it. Actually once in labour I did get one of my books out but soon found that trying to read whilst in labour that you don't take much info in. 
I know that my mw says that women that have laboured before are normally more successful with having a VBAC than women who have had electives (like me) because you already know what labour is like and are normally in a better head space than women who have never laboured. I dunno if that is true or not, I did managed to get my VBAC but I must admit there was one point when I was thinking why the hell didn't I just have another c/s, I think that was just crazy labour pain induced thoughts though. -------------

I kept meaning to try accupuncture....but never got around to it. Yay that you get to try thats awesome...can't believe how fast its going, nearly halfway already (may not seem that fast to you I guess!!) Just be really strong about what you want...I was determined that I would have a VBAC and my mw knew how much I really wanted it...it still came down to CS or Forceps (had forceps) but that was only cos I was early and he hadn't dropped and wasn't moving during nearly 3 hrs of pushing. They gave me info at the specialist appt about it and I had also got sent some onfo from someone on here (sorry can't remember who now..oops) who had done a heap of research which was good to read as well. I wasn't worried at all as I knew what a cs was like and that to me was going to be a last resort so anything was going to be better than that, (not that it was that bad really). You also laboured for a long time so you know what to expect on that side of it, and you did so well for so long last time so i'm sure you will do the same this time. My labour first time only got to 2cm after 13 hours of contraction 2 mins apart, second time around I was fully dialated in 6 hours (contractions every 2-3 mins again) so it was totally different. Sorry..bit of a book!! -------------

Dont get induced, lol! hat i'm sure makes a huge difference. I truely believe if I never got induced and had intervention I would have got my VBAC.
Do heaps of reseach, and stand your ground!

Oh I wonder if I can find that book on trade me, I will look! Vanessa I hope she does to lol! I hope she doesnt follow in her brothers foot steps and put her mother through hell lol! I think research is the key, so I will read up on as much as I can, I also said to DH that Id like to try preggy yoga and do swimming etc. My MW said that they wont give me anything like syntocin cos its to rough on the uterus when you have had a c section, and that they will do a "trial of labour" so fingers crossed this wee lass comes on time and the right way! lol, meaning, I dialate properly and she stays in a good position. Highly recommend that book. It is more American based but anatomically women are very similar the world over if you know what I mean!!
I would also recommend the Pink Kit. It's a little boring but you do learn a lot about different positions that can be helpful during labour & if partner/Hubby can watch too then he can help. Most important things I learnt with my VBA2Cs was this: 1) Surroundings: You need to feel SAFE! You need to feel comfortable in your surroundings so that you can let go. 2) Support: Having the right support while you labour is REALLY important. You need someone who can sense when you are feeling low & they can give you a pep talk to help you feel you CAN do it! 3) Know what you are trying to achieve: Research what you can about what you plan to do. Make a plan that you want to follow (even while realising that things can change!). I used a LOT of homeopathy, a lot of herbal remedies & even accupuncture. I wanted a perfect birth & I did NOT want a 3rd c-section so I was willing to try anything! I ran my ideas past my midwife before doing anything of course LOL In the end I got what I wanted, the perfect birth. My only regret was not getting photos of the birth LOL  ------------- Mum to Alex (11), Blaire (10) & Erika (8) and Damien (6) Successful HWB VBA2Cs! Soon to be surrogate |

Jody was in the wrong position, not engaged and they thought she was far too big to fit through my pelvis.
MW and specialist both said I will need a cs but my darling MW wanted me to at least have a few contractions just see what it feels like lol. I was induced and ended up having Jody naturally. I know it's not the same as a VBAC but it sorta is. I read some of the Pink Kit which helped both DH and I stay relaxed and we made a good team. What I think also REALLY helped was one of the hospital MWs told me how to stand during contractions to get bub to engage. Keep your back straight, bend your knees so you are in just a slight squat. And sort bounce slightly so you are using gravity to get bubs to move down. I did this for 2 hours after my waters were broken and went from 1-2cm to 6! Then I had meconium in my waters so was lying on the bed with the drip for the rest of labour, Jody was born 3hours later. -------------
