Hi,
I've been wanting to get a trike for my daughter (she's about 19 months) who just LOVES bikes.
I'd like to get one with a parent handle/bar thingy and have been looking on Trade Me at all the various brands.
Just wondered what anyone would suggest? There is quite a range in price and I can't decide if it's worth it to spend more or not as I've never used one. I thought the type that lets the parent steer would be useful.......
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We have a Sesame Street one from Toyworld. It doesn't have a bar (though I imagine that one bar fits all) and our DD finds the pedals somewhat stiff. However I don't think a 19mo would be able to reach the pedals - obviously the most important part.

I reccomend the Kettler Trike.
Altho they are quite a big outlay, we have one, which has been used to death by our now 6 year old (he used it for 4 years and it still looks great! Hardly any wear on the tyres.) We purchased it so we would definitely have a quality trike for when the next bubs is old enough to use it :)
I love that you can "lock" the steering. as in it will only point to the front so the parent can steer, and that the pedals "freewheel" (like an adults bike). Great for if the trike gets out of hand the pedals do not "chunk" into the little ones legs :(

edited to add: the frame is also adjustable so it "grows" in length with your child.

I'll definitely check the Kettler out. Like that it is adjustable in size!
Thanks for the replies.

We got Samantha a Eurotrike for Xmas and it has been a huge hit. We liked the Kettler but just couldn't afford it unfortunately
The one we have for her is awesome though. It is adjustable seat, lockable steering, you can stop the pedals from turning and it has the push bar. I also love that it has a full seat and 3 pt safety belt.
