Hi, just wondering if anyone has got any tips on heating up formula. We have started giving a couple of FF a day and I can never get the temp right its normally too hot and then while I try to cool it down bubs gets very upset. I have tried heating it in a mug or glass in the microwave first but still its too hot??? The bottle is normally 180mls. Any tips would be welcome. TIA

I used to heat just the water in the bottle in the microwave - you can fiddle around til you know the correct time to use, then add the formula. The formula dispenser container things are really handy to have

Hiya - here are some tips for preparing formula quickly. Hope they help .

** Well in advance of feeding time, pour a set amount of boiled water from the kettle into each sterilised bottle and leave to cool. (You will top this up with freshly boiled water just before feeding bubs).

** Store the bottles in the fridge and use within 24 hours, otherwise tip out the cooled boiled water and start again.

** When bubs wants a feed, fetch a bottle containing cooled water, top up with boiling water, add req amount of formula, shake and you're good to go. The ratio that worked for us was approx 2 parts cooled boiled water to 1 part boiling water (eg 130 mls cooled boiled water, topped up with 70 mls boiling water for a 200 ml feed). Experiment until you find out what mixture works for you.

** You can also speed up the process if you leave just enough water in the kettle to make up the next feed (so it doesn't take too long to boil).

We keep a jug of boiled water on the bench and add boiling water to it to get the right temp and then add the powder. heaps easier than microwaving.

My bottles sit on the bench filled with cooled boiled water until i'm ready to use them. Then I heat them for 30 secs in the microwave and make up the formula. I leave it for at least 5 mins on the bench before I give it to him.

We left the bottles with cooled boiled water on the bench. Microwaved for about 30 secs and then added formula. By shaking up the powder really well means that the water mixes up too so not hot spots.

By the time you do the powder and then "get into position" the water should be just the right temperature.

Our Jug is a sunbeam illuminator which has led lights and looks pretty when boiling (reason Dh brought it!!) But anyway it has a temp setting thing where you can set it to constantly keep that tempreture which is really good cause if i set it to 40 degress its a perfect temp.
If im using a bottle from the fridge i usually do 30sec in microwave, if its too hot i tend to add alittle bit of cold from another bottle from the fridge (i normally have 2 always made up in fridge)
