I got my BFP last night so now I need to get myself organised with a midwife for December.

I live about 40 mins from Palmy, and 10 mins from Pahiatua. Pahiatua has a midwife group but no hospital. I plan on birthing in Palmy hospital. I currently work in Palmy as well, and *plan* to keep doing so until 36-38 weeks.

So my question is, should I go with a midwife from Pahiatua, that is closer to home which I expect would be good at the other end of pregnancy, or go with one in Palmy which would be a lot more convenient for visits while I'm working (if I go with a rural one, I'll have to take an afternoon/morning off to see her and so would DH if he wants to come)?

Would love to hear your advice and ideas - is there anything else I should be thinking about?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for midwives in Palmy or Pahiatua that would be lovely

Congrats on your BFP!

I live 40 minutes from hospital and chose to have an independent midwife rather than a hospital midwife. She and her back-up were great - they visited me at home on weekends and went to hospital with me for the birth. Then continued to see us at home afterwards.  You could check with the Pahiatua midwives to see if they offer a similar service before making a decision?
