Hey there all,

My sister is pregnant (due August) and I'm wanting to get her something, like a keepsake for the baby. I don't have any idea really, I have heard about getting a mold of babys foot and hand and then put it into some silver or gold material and then they frame it but can't afford that (think it's about $250).

Would really appreciate any idea you all have. Even if they are other things, not necessarily keepsakes. I've asked her but she "doesn't know" and my Mum is buying so much stuff as it is, that she won't go without.

They have moulds cheaper than that on TM, worth buying if you know she will use it.
I have brought my cousins girl a wee silver bracelet, a friend a nice birth certificate holder from Pascoes, it was bout $40, those are things you tend not to buy yourself I think. A photo frame with babys first 12 months, I have seen in gift shops, a brush and comb set... ummmm thats off the top of my head anyway

Thanks Jolene, I never thought of TM! :) My mother has gone a bit mad (her first grandchild) and bought her so much stuff that's so hard to think about what I can get her (and the other set of grandparents on the other side - poor things, think they're feeling a bit left out).

One of the nicest gifts I got for Sam was a silver babies money box with a few coins in it to start her off. I was really touched and it is a beautiful keepsake for her

I was going to suggest a money box type thing too - we were given one for our daughter, it is a silver one from a jeweller (pascoes or the like) and it is such a nice keepsake

I love those baby bracelets .. you can even get tiny charm bracelets, they just add links as bubs wrist grows.

Personally I think you have to be careful with the hand/foot moulds. We were given a voucher to have Jack's done professionally and it looks great but I saw how tricky it was for the lady to get the moulds right as he wouldn't stay perfectly still long enough. A DIY kit could be quite hard.

When I was pg with Jack Bro and SIL gave us a baby book which was really lovely and covers about his first year or so. When they announced they were pg a friend of theirs was too quick for me and got them a book so we bought them a Buzzy Bee

I gave my sister a lovely teething anklet ~ her baby's first piece of jewellery, and practical too

We were given a baby photo album, a book of fairy tales and my mum and nana both knitted a blanket for bubs, which I think is really special.
