if you were trying to sell something on an online crafts store and someone contacted you to find out where the pattern is from? I have found a completely gorgeous cardigan that I want, for sale on another forum where people sell their homemade things - I can't afford the price they are asking for their particular one (and would need two anyway, which REALLY takes it out of affordability) and want to see if Mum can make one, but she needs a pattern. I can't find a pattern at any of the 3 shops we have here in NP that sell knitting patterns...so am wondering if it would be cheeky or insulting to contact the person direct and ask where they found their pattern....what would you think if you were them??

If it were me, I probably would think it a tad cheeky
But if you explain your situation (re; the twin thing) they might be a bit more understanding

If it's where I think you found it then most of their patterns on there seem to come from Ravelry, so have a hunt through Ravelry and you might find the pattern. Otherwise there are lots of cute patterns on knitty too

ETA - and actually I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you just asked about the pattern - you could just couch it like "seeing as I'm expecting twins and on a budget, and also will need two in the same yarn, I don't suppose you'd be able to share where the pattern came from...?"

Oh phew....and after all that I found the pattern online too....I totally loved the one I saw, but at almost $50, I just couldn't justify it, let alone getting two!!!

Thanks ladies I did think it was a bit cheeky, but worth a try!!

Here you go for you knitters....it's something a little more modern than everything that has been knitted for the twins so far....

Ooooh, Ann which shop is that? I went into the ones in NP yesterday and found this completely gorgeous bamboo/wool mix which I want Mum to make something with...I know nothing about knitting so have no idea what 8 ply wool would be good for LOL It's just soooooo soft (80% bamboo and 20% wool) and gorgeous colours...

You'll find heaps if you google for free crochet patterns. This http://www.craftfreebies.com/free_crochet_patterns.html#Anchor-Fre-25506 - place is quite good though.
