Family planning? A full apointment there for anything is only $27, I know the one in town does drop in appointments from 1pm, the one in the hutt might be the same. In the UK you can get it at the pharmacy over the counter, is it the same here?

Can't you get them from the chemist now without a script?

You can get it over the counter at the chemist - you need to go through a form with them and answer questions. Think it is about $40 or so from memory.

Over the counter at the chemist - you just have to have a wee chat to them about why you need it. It's not nearly as expensive as has been suggested - it's about $5

Wow $40 is a lot, I'm sure when a girl friend had to get it back when we were in college, she didn't have to pay anywhere near that amount ...

Personally abstinence looks much more appealing to me lol!

For me, I wouldn't think twice about paying $40 if there was any chance I could be pregnant & most definitely didn't want another baby.

But if it's only been 8 days since AF started then I would think you'd be ok but don't quote me on that

How long are your cycles? There is probably a slight risk if your cycles are 28 days or less. IMO I don't think you should risk it if you are dead set against having another baby.

They are 28 days, yeah I have been thinking about it all day, DH thinks we should be fine financially if I do get pregnant (Funny how thats all he worries about, never mind the getting up in the night!) I think Im going to get it for piece of mind.

Oh Kaiz..... you could be joining my club.  Haha, silly ppl that we are

A friend of mine fell pg the day after her AF finished.  She assumed she'd be safe... then along came her baby daughter.  And I fell pg with Jett the week my AF was due.  That's why I never feel that I'm safe during my cycle to not use protection.... but then there was this one time......... haha.

Hopes I think it depends on the DHB. Some subsidise it a lot more, or for specific age groups. My silly teenaged sister got it recently in Gisborne and that was pretty cheap so it does vary from place to place.
I'd probably get it if I were you Kaiz

Its $42 at the pharmacy I work at. You need to have a quick consultation with the pharmacist first.

Places cheaper/free include:
Family Planning
Sexual Health Clinic at Public Hospital
School/Tech/Uni health clinics

Good luck

You would think that they would make it cheaper as you are kinda doing the responsible thing trying to not bring an uplanned or unwanted (for other people) child into the world. Plus also saving the DHB money by not getting an abortion later.... JMHO.

I had to get one this year it was $40 and having the little chat in the closed door room lol.

I didnt get one last year thinking the pill was still active (had come off it a few weeks before) and I fell pregnant. So we dont want another child and were not going to risk it.
