ok so my olds have just brought a campa that all of us can use...............i was wondering if anyone had any good children orientated camping grounds to go too.........i remember when we where kids we use to go to omakaroa and it was awesome so i wanted the same for my kids............but i didnt want to go there as i heard that it had changed.

we go to Toriri every xmas with our kids and other family.
It was a tradition of DHs family to go there every year and now we do

Kawhia I've heard thats nice and Whakatane / Opotiki has some kid friendly campgrounds close to the beaches

lol the reply just before yours pretty much answered it! lol its just outside of Opotiki past whakatane its awsome for fishing and there are big open fields where the campervans set up and make like a little home for themselves for a few weeks .
There are also quite a few others as you go further up the coast, we generally frequent them during the year on fishing weekends ..il ask DH the name of them bcos my mind just cant seem to remember!!

Otorohanga and Ohiwa are nice too but tend to me more pricey than the others

theyr all by the beach whenever we go camping its a fishing thing so we always go for close to the beach you could almost spit in the sea from camp!

we used to go to ohope alot, also there was a really neat camping ground at flaxmill bay near cooks beach not sure if its still there
