Hi There,

I had egg transfer on Monday 20 April. On Sunday 26 April I started having very slight dark brown spotting vaginal bleeding. It has continued on and off since then. The spotting has been extremely light. Only noticable when I insert pessaries, or slightly when I wipe myself. In fact, yesterday it was extremely minimal.

Also, I have had cramping too although this has eased off. Not bad at the moment but can still feel sort of ache type feeling. It feels like cramping before AF due to arrive.

My pregnancy blood test is Friday 1 May.

Does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this, and I would appreciate your sharing your experiences during this 2WW period.

Hi Daizy01, can't really help you but just wanted to wish you the best of luck for Friday, I hope it is just implantation bleeding your having which can occur after the transfer.

Fingers crossed for you!

HI Daizy01, well it looks like we are both playing the waiting game! I had my embryo transfer on the 22nd...

I remember having a bit of spotting with my first pregnancy, I rung the Frteility Clinic and they didnt seem overly worried about it... it could just be implant bleeding....

Man, I hate the 2ww period! Im soooo nervous about my BT on Sunday .

Do you have any other symptoms yet?? I had a few
twingey pains last week but that seems to have finished now... other than that... NOTHING!

Thanks for your good wishes, Scaredy Cat. I hope everything works out for you this year.

Sarahlou, it is an extremely nerve wracking time isn't it. This is my third IVF attempt and this time I am a lot more relaxed and positive. Positive thoughts brings positive results!

All I have felt during the 2WW is cramping and spotting (dark brown or pink). My cramping has eased and I notice this morning that the spotting has eased a lot. Hardly anthing at all this morning.

I hear some women say they feel nausea, have sore breasts, etc.   I've felt none of that, just cramping and spotting.

Hey, I wish you all the best with your blood test on Sunday.

Let us know how you get on.

No Mummymegs it isnt....

This is the second time it has worked. We have had 2 perfect embryo thaws and transfer and it didnt work!! I know Im probably being a drama queen cause there are so many other out there who have tried so many more times than us, Im just so puzzled to why it didnt work for us? Our first ever embryo took straight away, maybe it was begginers luck!? Im just SO over bad news all the time!!

We have decided we will give it another go if my AF turns up (which most of the time it doesnt because of PCOS) and in the meantime we have an appointment with our Private Specialist on Friday to see if he thinks my endo may need another clean up to give us a better shot! God I hope he says no! thats not a nice op to have done.... We just dont want to keep trying and waste the * embies we have left!! does that make sense or do you guys think Im over reacting about the whole thing??

Hi Sarahlou,

Wishing you all the best for the 2WW, hope it flys by for you and you get the best news ever at the end of it.

I have just stated my first TER this month (today) so will be in the dreaded 2WW in about two weeks I think, not sure exactly how long it takes, I think I'm on a manufactured cycle as I started taking the pill today, or is that normal?

Take care

Thanks ScaredyCat!! It sounds like its a normal cycle.... I do manufactured cycles because I dont get a period on my own, I take provera (little blue tab twice a day for 7 days) to bring on AF...Is this the pill you are taking or is it actually THE PILL? If it is provera you are taking then yeap it will be aout 2-3 weeks till your TER. Anyway... the 2ww is plain horrible , and Im really hoping its third time lucky for me and DH!

Im really not looking forward to it, im so sick of getting my hopes up to be shot down at the end of it all....oh well, I know I do have to stay positive....I will do my best.

Have you had any embryos transfers since Dec 08??

Hi Sarahlou, I had to wait till AF arrived and then on Day 2 started taking Progynova, the nurse rung me today and said they will send over a schedule next week, so I really have no idea what I'm doing at the moment, oh well I guess they must know!

And no, I had early miscarriage in Feb from my first IVF cycle so had to wait for two full cycles before I was allowed to try a TER, the waiting seems to have been soooooo long.

And I know what you mean about the 2WW, its a tough time, hang in there, I have my fingers crossed for you it is third time lucky!!!

Hi ScaredyCat,

Well embryo transfer went good... had day 3 embie replaced as a 7 cell that apparently was really healthy looking...so fingers crossed....once again!!!Due to have my blood test on the 2nd so not that long to go now...Im much calmer about he whole thing this time... not stressing or obsessing too much about every little twinge and niggle down stairs which is nice....

So have the clinic even given you a date yet?? If they havent give them a call and hurry them along...its not fair how they make us wait sometimes

Oh thats good news about your embie, it can be a bit nerve racking waiting for the thaw process! I have everything possible crossed for you!!!

And no I haven't heard anything back from the clinic yet, got off to a bit of a rough start too unfort, I rang them with Day 1's etc and then didn't hear back from them until late the next day when they told me I needed to start taking the pills which I hadn't received a script for, so had to rush around and try and get local pharmacy to do script for me, they did in the end but didn't starting taking them until late that day ..... but at least started now, I'm hoping there might be something in the mail today to give me some idea on when and whats gonna happen!

Keep in touch, love to hear how you are getting on on and really want to hear the good news of a BFP on the 2nd!!!!

Awww thanks avkiwi3...

sorry to snoop but I get emails when someone replies in the 2nd IVF round thread and I read your comment and history.... I too totally know what you mean about getting over a failed emryo transfer...its sooooo flippen hard isnt it?! This is our third transfer and each time it doesnt work it seems to drag all my grief back up about our little boy we lost at 23 1/2 weeks... so not only am I dealing with the embryo not working Im dealing with all that grief as well... sometimes I dont know why i do it myself!! Its a bummer that you have to go through the whole cycle again... but deep down we all know its worth at the end... we a pretty lucky in the fact that we still have 6 embies remaining but it doesnt make it any easier to coap with...

Anywas take care... and make sure you write down all the questions you have so you dont forget anything.... Good luck!

Hi Sarahlou, yip all went well thanks, my embie survived the thaw and remained an eight cell, so was happy about that, unfort on the same day I got a cold so not so happy about that, and today to top it off have developed a rash on chest and neck!!

The clinic advised I pop into local to GP just to make sure nothing serious and not a reaction to pess's or the pill but he seems to think just a rash and some cream ought to sort it out!

So I'm hoping the little embie is a toughie having to deal with a not so healthy carrier at the moment. Its always the way, haven't had a cold for years.

How's things with you? I think I read you were having terrible morning sickness, has that eased yet?

Hi ScaredyCat....

Oh no you poor thing! sounds like your having a real tuff time...

Things are going ok here, had MS for about 3 days and then it stopped but it seems to be creeping its way abkc into my life GRRRRRR!!!! as well as the REALLY sensitive smell thing.... yuck! everything smells yuck! I have also been having brownish spottin for about two weeks now, the clinic doesnt seem that worried about it but I am... Ive had two more BT since I got the good news and hCG went from 85 to 391 and last one was 3500 so hormonaly we are looking all good... I have another BT on Tuesday so heres hoping all is still well. We are booked in to have our 8 weeks scan on the 2nd so not long to go know.........

When do you have your first BT??

Hi Sarahlou, yeah it has been a bit tough so I haven't got my hopes up too much and trying to stay positive at same time!

Bummer about the MS returning, that doesn't sould like much fun for you, plus the spotting must be worrying but as long as those levels are rising, I'm sure its all fine and bubs is just settling in nicely. Good luck for upcoming BT.

My BT not until Friday and at this stage have no feelings of being PG, have got the sore boobs thing but I have that every month so not really an indicator for me but I guess only time will tell!

Isn't it funny how everyone is so different, I'm still getting the twinges and cramps and not enjoying it that much but hardly any m/s and incredibly sore boobs!!

At this stage no we aren't going to find out, my DP says there are not enough surprises in life! But my Mum is sick with cancer and if she gets worse quickly then I think we will so we can tell her.

How bout you, are you going to find out?

Scardy Cat I am so glad to hear the blood test is looking good.

Life has just been marching on for us. I am waiting for my first AF since the one at the end of our failed cycle (came the afternoon of the neg bloodtest right on time). I am now at day 31 and my cycles used to be reg 27-28 days. I know it is insane (especialy since I have sevearly damaged tubes) and it is most likely to be just the after effects of the treatment but my boobs are sore and I can't help but have thoughts of "what if the test was wrong" or "I have somehow concived this month" totaly crazy I know and I am not insane enough to do a test or mention this to anyone else but here. It's just that sometimes you just can't stop those crazy thougts.

We are having our follow up apointment at FA tommorow.

Hi Scaredy,

AF started Thursday. Follow up was good. Next cycle is to be Aug/Sept (Exact month tba by funding soon). We are doing long protocol again but with 220 puregon instead of 150 to try and get more eggs and will take no chances with the fertilization do icsi this time. We had 3 eggs that just didn't fertilize and there is no way of defining if it was the eggs or the sperm. MY DH is also taking Menivit (the equivalent of Elevit) now.

I do really want to do this again but I am worried about how I am going to cope with it all. I took a lot of time off with the first cycle (self employed so basically just turned work away) and we just can't afford to do that again so soon.

Hi avkiwi3, good to hear your follow appointment went well, and how exciting re your next cycle, not far away at all.

I'm self employed too and your right it is hard and you do find you need to take time off work, is there anyone you can call on to take some of the work on for you? I guess I'm quite lucky in my line of work as its all web based and I can work all sorts of hours, thats how we managed to keep it going and taking time off too, is that something you can do aswell?

Thanks ScardyCat,

I can work any hours, but found with my last cycle I was quite tired in the evenings. I also have a 5 year old to look after. My MIL is trying to train up to help (though sometimes she takes up more time than she saves).

I run a digital design and printing company from home mainly doing wedding stationery (which can be stressful). We do all the production here too and have some heafty overheads in the form of a lease on my printing machine that has to be covered. I asked for a holiday form the payments the two months we were not taking in new custoimers to lighten the load but can't do that again.

I have increased my pricing to try to cut down on orders but am still getting at least an enquiry a day. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining it is good to have work but I worry it will all get too much. I do have some plans to try to better manange things, the first one is re-working my web site (which I do all myself) to try and cut down on the questions and make it all clearer. My DH is planning on taking a week off his day job in a few weeks time to help me with the web site and sort out a few things.

Wow thats actually really good to hear how busy you are, especially with the recession and things, you must have a great little business running there. Wish I could say the same about mine, I have an online natural dog food shop, and unfort it is suffering a wee bit with the recession.

But I guess being so busy doesn't actually help you though when you need to take time off. Hopefully between your MIL and your hubby you will be able to work something out, as your right you do tend to get tired with all the drugs etc during the cycle. Good luck I hope it all sorts its self out for you.
