I need help!
My son is 10 weeks old. For weeks now he has been sleeping terribly during the day. Last week I decided to let him sleep in the moby wrap some of the time to get some peace. This was great, he'd sleep in there for up to two hours at a time, was well rested and happy when he was awake, and started sleeping through the night. Only problem was he started becoming more and more reluctant to go to his bed, and instead of having two short sleeps in bed and the rest in the wrap, he wanted to be in the wrap all the time (and it was driving me a bit mental having NO time without him all day). So...I decided we needed to knock that on the head and had a difficult couple of days getting him to sleep in bed, but did succeed. The problem is, he won't stay asleep for long. Sunday was four 45 min naps. Monday two 45 min naps and two 20 min naps. Yesterday the same. And he's started waking during the night again (coincidence? Who knows). He is NOT happy when he is awake, he is obviously still tired but I just can't get him to go back to sleep! A few times I've spent an hour trying to get him back to sleep, I always give up after an hour and feed him. I have tried leaving him in bed and patting/rubbing/shhhing, picking him up calming and putting back down, letting him go to sleep on me and putting him back down, none of this works. When he was younger the noise of the shower would get him back to sleep, but now it just keeps him quiet when it's on and as soon as I turn it off he starts crying. So anyone got any brilliant ideas to get him either to sleep longer or to go back to sleep? I am starting to lose the plot

ok just found another thread on this - had done a search for sleep but not for nap! I've tried sitting in with him and patting as soon as he starts stirring too but that doesn't work...maybe I should get a white noise CD and leave it on his whole nap. ------------- http://lilypie.com"> http://lilypie.com">

I had the same problem with Issy and for her ENTIRE first three months she would only sleep on me!
Although I wasnt as brainy as you and didnt think of getting a sling until she was 2 months .. but once I did it was bliss. I actually just let her sleep in the sling .. she eventually grew out of needing to be so close to me .. but for my own sanity ... I chose to let her sleep in the sling. Oh and she would usually sleep fine at night in the bassinette but I would co-sleep with her on the nights she decided she didnt want to be "alone" (even though she was right next to the bed). Anything to get some sleep  ------------- Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months) I did it .. 41 kgs gone! Oh and Im not sure if you have one .. but the Plunket people run "sleep workshops" .. you could try contacting them to get some tips. ------------- Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months) I did it .. 41 kgs gone! I had the same problem with my son. I ended up putting a radio in his room and tuning it off station - white noise without paying for a CD. It seemed to work. Saying that though now he is ten months and only has three half hour naps a day - but he does sleep 12 hours at night. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

What's his feeding like?? Cian got into a bad habit at one stage of snacking and napping - so he'd only have short little feeds and then not be able to maintain a decent naptime...
