I am thinking of putting the two boys into one room so we can heat it over winter.  Can you think of any reasons why not to?  Both are in cots, and while we were away they were in the same room and each woke at various times without waking the other.  James sleeps quite well through the day and Tom is still having his marathon 3 hours in the afternoon.  It would also mean we can have a proper spare bedroom as James' room has the spare bed in it at the moment.

Any thoughts?

I don't see why not, it only wouldn't work if one was waking the other.

At the mo Alia is in my bed with Cooper grizzling as he's going back to sleep & she's still out to it.

One of my friends has her two in the same room - her DD is 3 and DS is 1. They started sharing when DS grew out of his bassinet (about 4 months). They are sharing until their renovations are done (a long time ) Her DD is in a bed and DS is in a cot.

They have only woken each other up a couple of times. During the day DS has is naps in a portacot in the parents room whilst DD has *quiet time* in the kids room. It is working well so far.

We have all only ever shared the same room and have never had a problem with it.

They quickly get used to sleeping through the other one making noise and it sounds like you already dont have much of a problem there.

I say if its what you want to do it definately can work!

This is good to hear.  DH's only reservations is they wouldnt have their own space....but I dont think that matters at this age.  I am looking forward to decorating one room....been checking out the snug as a bug site.....hmmmmm

On their own space issue - I didn't get my own room until I was 15. We'd have occasionaly squabbles, and sometimes it would change who I had to share with (I was one of 6 kids) but it didn't really bother me not having my own space. You kinda had your own *corner* of the room. But in saying that I did grow up on the farm and spent most of my life outdoors - there was plenty of my own space out there

I say make them share. I intend to have mine sharing for as long as possible, even if I don't need to. I think its good for them to learn about sharing and compromise etc. JMO though

We will be sharing from when DD moves out of the bassinet if it will work. We've set the room up with the two sides, and there's a corner bookcase that kind of separates the areas.

Good idea about having a portacot set up for day sleeps though for the younger one. That might be worth thinking about.

I agree. Sometimes its good to have a quiet space set aside for toddler day sleeps if they would otherwise keep each other awake.

My two share as well and it works really well. They do wake each other up in the morning though and can sometimes be hard to get to sleep. But sometimes they enetertain each other so they go to sleep on their own or play in the mornings for a bit.
