So for ideas - what songs did you have for dancing, first dance, entrance etc?
Our music taste is ummm ecletic!! (sp?) We like virtually anything and everything so if you can give us some ideas that would be great!! And ill post the list when I get it together!!
Thanks Ladies!!

I walked down the aisle to Enya- only time and my SIL sang Dido - Thank you while we were signing the marriage cert and our first dance was Van Morrison - I'll be your lover which is quite a slow song. Other ones we played were Amazed, cant remember who its by and savage garden - truley madly deeply.

I walked down the aisle to 'your love' by the Parachute Band (funky NZ christian band), signed the register to 'without you' by Brooke Fraser, we left to 'I believe in a thing called love' by The Darkness, and for our first dance had 'unforgettable' by Nat King Cole. We had a song during the ceremony too, 'I could sing of your love forever' by Delerious. Eclectic as!! Good luck choosing wedding music- if you're thinking of it 4 months out you're doing pretty well I'd say.

we had vangelis 'conquest of paradise' (crusaders theme true supporters!) playing while everyone entered the church and sat down. i walked down the aisle to westlife 'unbreakable' and signed the register to blue 'best of me'. our first dance was supposed to be aerosmith 'don't wanna miss a thing' but the dj 'forgot' to add it so it ended up being eric clapton 'wonderful tonight'.

We started out with "You're just too good to be true" by Lauryn Hill, and then also had:
Amazed - Lonestar (country band)
Heaven - DJ Sammy (slow version)
You raise me up - Josh Groban
Bless the broken road - Rascall Flatts
And finished up to "Volare" by Dean Martin
Keep in mind that my wedding wasn't quite typical, but hopefully that will help get you started !

I wanted to walk down the isle to the theme song from braveheart but it didnt sound so good on an organ so i went with another song that was actually remade by a rapper GAH i cant for the life of me remember what it was called lol
First dance was to Kelly Clarkson - A moment like this.
Was supposed to dance with dad to Sarah McLachlan - In the arms of an angel, but we lost track of time lol

I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel played by our string quartet and our first dance was to '2 steps behind' by Def Leppard We went to lessons and had a dance choreographed to it, it was a rumba and everyone loved it- was so much fun!

Some of my songs I am tossing up about
Up the asile: UB40 "can't help falling in love " (elvis version a bit slow for me)
Proclaimers "500 miles"
Van Morrison "Have I told you lately?"
Chris Knox "Love not given lightly"
Wedding Dance: Van Morrison "someone like you", the version of "your love is king" from Bridget Jones 2, Salmonella Dub "love your ways" or Black seeds can't think of the name right now...
Other music I have heaps of Idea, I am just going to make some CDs to be played before I arrive and during the signing and leaving etc. Although I may copy Shrek and have smashmouths "I'm a believer" when we kiss...

Eh I wasn't going to mention it myself but yeah, Angel by Sarah McLachlan is about dying, so even though it's a beautiful song I find it too sad

I never looked at Sarah McLachlans song as a funeral song i guess listening to it if u werent to know it just sounds like you are dancing with your angel which in my case was my dad due to him having the balls to adopt me when i was 2 and living up to being my dad all my life and coping really well when my biological father tried to step in. Songs are strange they tend to have different meanings for anything really.

I walked down the asile to Endless love instrumental only, walked back down to signed sealed delivered and first dance was endless love. We had very different music tastes and this was basically all we agreed on. The other option was Shania Twain, From this moment.
Now good party songs, it really depends on your crowd, but we had a great range and the dance floor wasn't empty all night. I have a list at home but some were the following:
Brown Eyed Girl
Grease mega mix
locomotion (which as Paws will testify too eventuated in one of the longest locomotion trains I have seen, which left the reception room and went out through the bar and back!)
500 Miles
Summer of 69
It's raining men
I fell like a woman
Will check the list tonight and let you know more

I walked up the aisle (I came up to Nat, his groomsmen and the pastor from behind them) to a family friend playing his violin. He also played while Nat and I took communion together, and while we signed the register, and at the end as we walked down to everyone.
We didn't have a dance. We had an afternoon tea reception, which started at 4pm and was all over by 6pm!

For walking down the asle it was flower of Scotland played on the bagpipes this was for my Dad he wore a kilt(sp?)also I had alway's dreamed of having the bagpipes played at my wedding. Then during the service my best friend sang "Heaven" but DJ Sammy(slow one)This is was one of dream's to have my friend sing she has the most amazing voice. Then I left to the normal wedding song. I would have loved mre music at the service, but cause we did Alan's Dedication we did not really have enough time.

there is a song and it might just be called graduation or the graduation song, something like that and as an instrumental it so soooo beautiful, my sister walked down to that and had David Gray Sail Away as her first dance. My other sister walked down to Celine Dion from this moment which was cool too. We played Stuck in the middle with you at the dance which was kind of our song in a joky way and also heaps of U2 cos they have nice songs and we are a bit of a U2 family. I always said I would have Endless Love my Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross, even kept the tape single since I was about 10 but then Darron hated it!!!!

I walked down the isle to Shania Twain's 'From this moment' and our first dance was Lonestar 'Amazed', my favourite song in the whole world.
Then we just left it up to the DJ to play a mixture or old and new songs to please everybody.

Hi
I walked down the isle to a medley song by Israel someoneorother. It was a mix of What a Wonderful World and Somewhere over the Rainbow. It is actually one of the songs in the movie Finding Forrester.
We had You belong to me by Bob Dylan when we signed the register, and our first dance was Anchor Me by the Muttonbirds.

If we ever get around to actually getting married, we will have Leather and Lace by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley, and How Deep is Your Love by the Beegees and Angels by Robbie Williams, all of which have sentimental meaning to us, although I don't know which one I would walk down th eaisle to, have our first dance to etc.
BTW, Arms of the angels was written for a rock star who died in a hotel room, I want to say Michael Hutchence but not 100% sure on that, it could be someone from the 70's.

Ok our songs were:
Walked up the ailse to Shania Twain - From this Moment
Sang - Amazing Love - The Newsboys
Signing of the Register - Brooke Fraser - Arthmetic - played and sang my friends of ours
First Dance - Lads (awesome NZ Christian Band) - My Forever Smoochy Girl.
And yes I will testify to biggest Locamation ever at Sarah Beth's wedding (headed by the bride might I add!) but she forgot to mention the enthusiastic Macarena!!

OOOOOH Aimmee i have that album and know the song - i love it! hhhm will have to remember that one!
I went to a friends wedding a few months back and they had music playing for the half an hour before the bride got there, and it was a mix of kewl songs - there was one that made me laugh - that one "final countdown" was kewl though.
I like that one, dunno who its by: called romeo and juliet.
I also like another one that was in some teen movie back when i was a teenybopper - kiss me. again i have no idea who by.
but for our wedding song to walk down the aisle to we have chosen shakira - underneath your clothes, cos i like the lyrics.
I also like that one in the arms of the angel - but told mike the same thing - funeral song.
Theres a couple by faith hill that are from that pearl harbour movie that i like - but again are sorta more sad than romantic i guess - the one i like the most is "there youll be"
ooh this post has me thinking, i might have to make a list!

Janine, is that "Romeo and Juliet" song kinda ballardy, and does it start:
A love struck Romeo
sings the streets a serenade,
laying everybody low
with the love song that he made.
And does the chorus include the line:
You and me, babe, how about it?
If it is the one I'm thinking of, it's by Dire Straits.
I think the "Kiss me" song might be by Sixpence None the Richer.

Not that part of me didn't want a big "fairytale" wedding with all the frills, but when it came down to it I had to ask myself "is it about the wedding, or getting married to the one person you love more than anything or anyone?"... and that's what made it easy for me / us to decide, and just go "Let's do it !" - then waltzed into the registry office and well, did it !

Ours was a bit different, I walked down the isle to "äll you need is love" but not the beatles version - the version off the "love actually" soundtrack - i wanted somehting that woudlnt make me burst into tears before i even got to the fornt and ruin all my make up but we also wanted somehtign different taht was us so we chose that and everyone loved it.
Another one that I considered is the "över teh rainbow" song off the soundtrack from 50 first dates - i love that song!

My BIL wanted his wife to walk down the aisle to Darth Vader's march! She flatly refused, but did walk down to one of the other marches from Star Wars (don't think it was the theme, though). He is a huge SW fan though, and she quite likes the movies too (but not to the same extent as him!) so it made sense because it reflected part of who they are.

Oh Lizzle - lets stay together was our first dance. I LOVE that song sooooo much - its just nice and simple.
I walk in to Pachelbel's Canon played by a string trio who also played some nice music for the register and the walking out. We hired a sound system and borrowed my cousins laptop for the reception music and put play lists of all our fav party music on it. We had another cousin play the important songs at the right time. We played LOTS of Motown, R&B, Island Music, etc etc. During the bridal party photos, we had a massive play list of beautiful jazz playing sonftly in the background - really great atmosphere
