Hi new mums and mums to be, I went to the Nappy Expo on the weekend and came away only slightly clearer on what I wanted to put my little one's bum in when it comes along. Am doing all the research, and along the way have come across hiring packs of nappies/inserts/covers etc for newborns - genius!

This doc shows locations across the country that hire kits out and what's included, cost etc. I was told at the expo that little bums grow from a size small to a medium at about 8-12 weeks, so hiring a kit for $10pw over buying the equivalent amount in nappy gear is a great cost saver, plus you get to try a couple of different brands/types of nappies so you can work out what's best for you and bubs. They're a great idea, I recommend them to everybody (it might have even been me that recommended them to you GingerBaby!). As I understand it (although I could be wrong!) they're all a mix of types and brands except the Pepsicles ones which are all HC or Fuzzis.
I'm pondering setting up another hirekit myself, as demand seems to outstrip supply atm... that way I get an excuse to stock up on lots of cute little nappies...  -------------
