What do you do with your baby in regards to sleeping when you are out and about?
Our baby is just a week old and we hadn't really given this too much thought. For example tomorrow we are going to my parents for the day for mothers day - where/how would your baby sleep? I am thinking the best idea might be top purchase a cocoon for our phil and teds buggy as this could also be used for walks in the winter. I don't mind baby falling asleep in his capsule but do not want to be putting him to sleep in it. We do not have a moses basket or bassinet as the baby sleeps in a cradle at home which is snug and cosy but not at all portable! As he is so small (week old) and can not roll over is it safe to put him in the middle of a double bed? Any dangers I might not be aware of? So, I'd love to know what you all do when you are out and about for the day. |

Yep either put him in the middle of a bed, I guess the only danger is from puffy duvets/pillows,...I used to just swaddle/wrap Isla and put her on top of the duvet with her own blanket on top of her.
Mostly she would just sleep in her phil and teds buggy in the flat newborn postion. When she was really little I used to lay a blanket down first, and have her facing the handles of the buggy- so I could she her when we were out shopping etc, and just tucked her up with a blanket and didnt even use the straps- they were way too big for her anyway. She slept this way when we went to a wedding when she was 4 months too. |

I did the same as Kellz and just put him down in the newborn (flat) position of the buggy and it worked well.
Sometimes esp at night when I knew we would be there for a while and he was sleeping in longer stints I would put him down on the bed with pillows around him so he was all settled and happy. They are so easy to take out at that age so make the most of it. Also meant to add check the length restrictions on the carrycot as I know they can be quite short so you don't get the use out of them that you think you will. -------------

In the middle of a bed, in another baby's cot if she is not using it, on some nicely folded blankets (to make a matress), just being cuddled/rocked (your mum probably would be keen, I'm picking), in a baby capsule or stroller, or even perhaps in a front pack. -------------  |

We used the carryout that goes with the mountain buggy when we were at family/friends houses. Ella was able to use it until she was around 3 months ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

I had a moses basket so I generally used that but I did once put her to sleep in a washing basket with a folded blanket below to make it a bit softer. -------------

We bought a cocoon for our Phil and Ted and its been great especially when we were out. I have only used it in the pram from the first day we used it.Have only used the pram a couple of times without it to be honest
Its getting a bit cosy now as we have a long baby on our hands but will last a while longer. |

I had a carry cot that I would take with, otherwise she slept in a sling on top of me. Or never had to do this but I would rather make a bed for her somewhere on the floor in a room that totally closes instead of a bed where they can roll off. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I had the cocoon for the phil & ted, and it was awesome. She either slept in the inside the buggy, or I would take the cocoon and lay it on the floor or a bed.
