I don't think you have to have kids to be a good kids Dr... but I can understand you wanting someone who's good with them!
From what I've heard, all the Drs at the Hillcrest Medical Centre are pretty good.

We are at St Andrews Medical Centre and I really like both doctors there. They've never made me feel silly for taking the kids in even if there wasn't really anything wrong with them. They both have a really good bedside manner and are happy to answer as many questions as needed. Both doctors have children & one is a grandfather.
What I also like about the clinic is they have open clinic every morning and night so you can see a doctor on anyday though you may have to wait. Also dr visits are subsidised if you are enrolled with them. So for an adult you only pay something like $36 - kids of course are free.

yeah we where with st andrews but one of the nurses injected my son with the wrong thing and things just got bad from there.........i dont have a problem with where we are now with the doc but its the fact that the nurses wait 2 weeks to return urgent calls they mix up appointment times and if your doc is away they wont put you in to anyone else....my son ended up being rushed into hospital.....when your kid is sick you dont want to wait a week to be seen!............mum told me 5x roads is good but that is like a wayyyyyyyyyyy out of our way so now im confused

O hmm your up Huntly way aye?
Don't go to Rototuna Northcare they suck there. They told my friend she had sprain in her ancle but it was actuallly broken in 3 places. USELESS.
I rang around a few places to find my doc coz I wanted a woman. She's Indian, she's nice but hard to understand sometimes. There is also a male doc there he's chinese but his english is better than mine. We went to him once when my doc was out of appointments. Ryan had bad Nappy rash and we needed to be seen straight away. He was brilliant.

We go to Master's Ave Medical Centre in Hillcrest. I'd recommend Dr. Harvey Govender, he is just an all round excellent GP and they have no charge for under 6's.

I go to 5XRoads medical centre and I see a lady called Colleen, she is South African and has about four kids of her own and she is really really nice. All kids are free under 6 there too. I used to see her because I lived about four houses down from the medical centre, but I have moved now and it's harder to get there but we still go there.

Yeah there is one nurse there that I'm not too keen on but the other is OK and as I said I like the doctors.
That is really bad about what happened with your son, I understand why you are wanting to find another clinic.

I go to the Ham East Medical Centre. Have seen a few doctors there and all have been great. The nurses are good too. They have lots of doctors which means we can always get appts with someone there, they have clinics for drop ins and they are open late (? to 8pm) some nights. Also, there are several chemists handy, a bloods lab, physio ... I have also had a few dealings with them via work and they have always been good to deal with from that perspective as well.

We go to Radius @ Rototuna, they are great. If you enrol its $15 during business hours for adults and kids under 6 are free so its cheap and they are friendly.
It's good if you need ultrasounds / bloods / physio etc as everything is in the one complex.
My dr is Tarun Sharma, he has 2 kids and has a great way of relating with my little one, the nurses are great when it comes to immunisation time... nothing is a bother to them... I'll stop raving about them now
Good Luck!! I know how hard it is to find a Dr, took me 3 attempts to find one I liked and understood!!

We went to radius at Rototuna once with DH, it was fro acc. and becasue that wasn't our dos we had to sit and wait, but it was only 45 which is quicker than anglesea's 1.5hrs. He said thats a good doc. Was an Indian man.
