Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and really need some help. First a bit of background: I have PCOS so have always had really irregular periods. The strange thing is that they are also very painful and heavy so my doctor also suspected endometreosis but this has never been confirmed. I started seeing a health and wellness specialist this year who did some tests and discovered that my progesterone levels were extremley low with very high levels of testosterone. He put me on natural progesterone and eltroxin (as my thyroid gland is not working properly either). I have been trying to get pregnant since the end of January. My periods have become more regular since I started taking the progesterone, although my cycles are very short (between 21-25 days, even had one 14 day cycle). This last cycle I started a temperature chart to see when I was ovulating. On day 14 of my cycle I started having pains and really deep red/brown spotting (not enough for a tampon, but enough for a pantyliner). I am still spotting and having slight craps now and it is day 18 of my cycle. I went to the doctors and she was really clueless. She has basically referred me to a specialist but does not know how long it will take me to get an appointment. Does anyone know why this is happening or has anyone had anything similar? I would greatly appreciate some feedback! |

Hi and Welcome Sawyer. I think you are very normal Also if you spot on a day from around 6 days after ovulation.. it could be implantation bleeding, which is when the "embryo" implants into your uterine lining... I have heard that natural progesterone cream does not help at all with low progesterone, BUT prescribed progesterone pessaries do. Personally I think that Vitamin B6 (over 50mg per day) is the best way to normalise your cycle and boost your progesterone. There are a few ladies, including myself on it. Why not add your chart to the "charts" and join our other threads and you will get heaps of advise and encouragement from us ladies there.... |

Another thing... if you ask your GP for a blood form to check your insulin levels because it is usually high in those with PCOS and causes imbalances in hormones, especially testorone |

Go to www.fertilityfriend.com and sign up for a chart there chick. I take B6 too though its actually more to ward off morning sickness since we're TTC #2.

Apriletta, you can get a ticker off there too Babe, too much B6 can be dangerous if you take too much for ms .... from the link below : Conception, pregnancy and breastfeeding.Vitamin B6 is thought to contribute to the growth and development of new cells in your baby. Overdosing during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy (more than 100 mg per day) may be linked to birth defects involving the baby's arms, legs and nerve development. Hi sorry just to add my 2cents worth
I have PCOS and had cycles from 26-72 days because i wasnt ovulating.. just a note to say that not all women have high testosterone or insulin probs, I dont, I do however have the low progesterone... that said my progesterone levels are higher now that I am ovulating. Could your issue be that your not ovulating? I was still getting my AF even without ovulating, though had the unpredictable looooong cycles... I get the random spotting of brown/red about 3 days before AF starts.. Shezhoping thanks for that! My specialist put me on B6 as well as Zofran when I was preg with Jake and def helped with the nausea while the Zofran helped with the chucking, then I started taking it a few months ago when I was dealing with my PND for abit of an energy boost which worked yay then we decided to TTC #2 and now I'm on 2xB6 (25mg per tab) and 2xB complex (0.9mg per tab) so thats 51.8mg per day atm. My doctor service has locums in atm so no continuity of care but I might ask my midwife (lol I have one on standby - same one that I had with Jake). Thanks for that! -------------
