I am tearing my hair out trying to decide on a suitable buggy/pram for my first (arriving in July). I was pretty much settled on the p&t Vibe until I contacted them to see when the adapters would be available so that you can attach the baby capsule onto the buggy - they have said they hope it to be available in July..but I am not willing to count on that. I am not so keen on the look of the Dash model.
So off I went trawling the internet for other options... and have fallen for a silvercross - but it isn't available in NZ!! I am going to the UK to visit when baby is 3 months and so could get it there but in the meantime am concerned that all I have is snap n go wheels so the baby will only be able to be in capsule or front pack. What to people think about this? Are there any other recommendations of good buggys/prams? e.g. maclaren Techno XT Any comments/advice/opinions appreciated! Bugaboos are brilliant (but pricey, although they go for secondhand not much more than a new Vibe), and the maxi cosi capsule fits on them. You can use the capsule up to 13kg, my daughter used hers until she was a year old! They don't have the option to convert to a double though, did you want that? ------------- Two little girls under 2!

Not necessarily needing a double (but it was an advantage I suppose!). Do you have the Chameleon? I looked at the Bee but thought it looked a bit narrow for an older baby/child.

Oh yeah, and I would think snap n go wheels & some sort of baby wearing (sling, wrap, etc, or front pack if you prefer - I'm not going to go into why I think the former are better!) would be fine for the first 3 months! -------------

If you don't use the Snap'n Go wheels for long walks, just around the shops, and have a sling/wrap or frontpack, you'll be fine for the first 3 months.
I like my pram (Steelcraft Strider), but Mika has decided she prefers being carried, so a lot of the time I end up carrying her in the moby (and before I had that, just in my arms) and pushing an empty pram. |

Thanks weegee! The steelcraft that I am keen on is the Sleepover and the AU site says "available soon" - but not when exactly!
I have contacted babyuniverse (NZ) who say on their site that Steelcraft are "coming soon" to try and find out if it will be soon enough for me!! Off out to explore the shops (again!) to see what other options there are! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We found for the first three months Issy HATED any pram (we had a few) and would only be carried .. so quite often I carried her whilst trying to push an empty pram! So I would say you are definately safe waiting till she is older and just having snap n go wheels. ------------- Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months) I did it .. 41 kgs gone! Just to throw a spanner in, my DD HATED her sling with a passion, I don't know why but she never lasted anymore than about 10 minutes before screaming.  Most babies do seem to like them though.
And yep, we have a cameleon, the basinnett that you use for the first few months was absolutely brilliant, we used it as DD's bed for the first 6 weeks. ------------- Two little girls under 2!

Hi MistyMolly!! Nice to chat to you again & hope the pregnancy is going well!
My sister got the Silvercross after seeing it at a baby show in the UK but only used it twice... She found it too heavy and bulky, both folded & not (ok, bare in mind the smallness of UK houses & she was driving a small Citron!). She then bought a Maclaren Techno XT, the 4 wheel, umbrella fold one, which lies all the way flat for a newborn & loved it. She is still using it 2 years & a lot of travelling later & it's held up really well. It does not take a bassinet, but as it lies flat for a newborn you should not need one? (I understand these were supposed to be available from Baby Factory from April?) If you are undecided why not hire here from Baby on the Move? That way you can try out a buggy before you buy & also hire a bassinet which you won't be using for too long rather than spending the cash on something you are not sure on? Then give them back before you go to the UK & buy something there if you find what you want & you should be able to travel back with it for free on most airlines!  If you don't see anything you like, then you have the option to get something locally when you get back!
Having tried to drive buggies around in the UK I would say the biggest you want to be dealing with is the Maclaren, especially if you are on public transport & you'd be much better off with a sling or carrier! We have two prams, a Bebecar AT style - which is so bulky and hard to use but was a great bed for DD for the first 6 weeks. We also have a Mountain buggy which I love... but I have to say I love my Moby wrap! I thought it looked a bit complicated at first but after a few days practising its great! So good for when Im popping into the supermarket without DH.. she'll happily sleep for 1.5-2 hours in it and means I can do things... I hardly use a buggy at all and doubt I will for awhile.
Oh and a friend of mine has a Bugaboo and its awesome, I would love one but its far too pricey for me! |

| One thought....in those first 3 months you may find (especially in July) that you dont want to venture out of the house much anyway. |

Have finally made my decision and gone for a Quinny Buzz with Dreami carrycot and maxi cosi car seat! Will probably get a sling/front pack as well for when I travel back to UK for a visit home! ------------- http://lilypie.com">
