Hi,

My lovely wee man, has caught his first cold.

Overall he is coping pretty well, but just wondering what remedies people would suggest for night time, to help him breathe?

Are you still breast feeding? I found a squirt of bm up the nose worked a treat

I am sure there is also something (???) you can stick on a cloth at the end of the bed which helps un block the nose - someone help me here.....

Baby Vicks? On the cloth? You can stick it under his cot.
Those saline drops are supposed to be magical for unblocking tiny noses. Poor wee mite!

Baby vicks,
saline drops up the nose to clear it before bed,
steamy bathroom twice a day to keep things "loose",
Eucalyptus oil in an oil burner (or a few drops in a bowl of hot water placed near his cot).
I should be able to think of more remedies but I'm suffering from a mental blank.

Karvol is also good on their PJ's or on a cloth

You can also make up your own saline solution at home ... add 1/4 tsp (or less) of plain table salt to a cup of boiling water and stir well, then leave to cool. Getting a drop or two up their nose is the tricky bit! I've sometimes resorted to just washing my hands really well, then dipping my little finger into the saline solution, then quickly dabbing it into DS's nostril. Saline drops definitely help to clear the airway for a time, but won't usually last all night.  Hope your wee man recovers soon .

maybe put the cot on phone books at one end so there's a slight raise.
yep i recommend Karvol, i put some on a tissue and put it in her PJ pocket, or just directly on her collar.
and lots and lots of cuddles :)
