I had this discussion with my MW yesterday seen as i thought it was just a theory of mine...turns out its true so want to now hear from bigger woman about how they feel them....

I said to MW "would BHs be different for bigger people like me?? i have excess fat on my tummy! so of course it wouldnt go completly hard during BH like it would for a smaller woman" she replied "your right, even though i dont consider you an overly big woman (oh bless her! ), you will have to define what feels like a roll over movement of baby as apose to the uterus going hard in that area".

So i have thought about it today alot bcos at first i thought "gez this baby is non stop today!"then my tummy went bulgy with what i thought was babies bum and it stayed hard then i felt a slight movement from underneith it!!! well hello! that was a BH!! and i have had them every 10 mins all day (i doubt they mean anything tho!)...

Sorry for the waffle hope it makes sense - how do the bigger ladies out there feel your BHs??

Amber, from looking at bump pics you have posted before, I would say we are about the same body shape/size. When I am sitting or lying down on my sideI can feel my uterus going hard, but I have to press down on the top of my tummy to feel it from the outisde... usually feels like a mild period cramp that goes from way down low up to my ribs lol. When im standing up or lying on my back I can feel it a lot easier... prob cos that extra layer of fat goes down to the bottom, leaving more of the uterus 'exposed' at the top IYGWIM?

and lol at morbidly obese... I have been overweight for years now, but never lookd 'morbidly' obese like you see on weight loss ads, or the 'before' pics of exercise machine ads... I guess I must hide the weight well? My midwife isnt too worried about my overall weight as I have managed to keep the weight GAIN during pregnancy to a minimum (have yet to reach 10kg, yet with my first I had put on 20kg by 34 weeks alone)

Oh and I have been feeling cramps on and off since conception... they just seem to change the name of what they are as the pregnancy progresses... from 'implantation' cramping, to 'growing pains' and then BH... I think after TTCing for so long, I became a little more 'in tune' with what was going on, and would over analyse every little twinge or niggle... and even us 'bigger' ladies get plenty of them!

oh and that bulgy feeling, my theory is that baby was pushed hard up against the side that was sticking out, then a BH made the whole uterus hard, but it stayed in the shape that baby had made it... Mine likes to push her feet hard out just below my left ribcage, so when I get BH it seems to go hard and stick out a bit there, but not so much on the lright hand side... not sure if that made any sense tho...

I havnt felt too many niggles throughout this pegnancy...maybe iv been ignoring them! lol

I havnt worked out how much weight i have put on this pregnancy as a result of baby bcos iv lost weight *takes deep breath* lol i was 118kgs when i got pregnant then 122kgs at 25 weeks then 115kgs at 35 weeks.

My BH were getting stronger all last night and i was getting a little excited!! but woke up this morning and nada!!!!

I was 85 when I got preg with DS (can't believe I thought I was fat THEN!), and was 104 at my 34 week weigh in... didnt pay any attention after that... was a bit ashamed to know how much MORE I'd put on, but I def put more on after that... this time round I was 106 when my GP told me I had to lose weight to get a referral put through to fertility specs, got down to 96 when we found out I was preg... am now 104.5 kg, but lost a little around the 30-34 week mark for some reason... am trying really hard to keep weight gain under 10kg overall to give myself a headstart on weight loss after things have settled post-birth...

I have had quite a few breath holder BH's over the last couple of days... but im the opposite lol, im not getting excited over them, Im telling them to naff off cos I dont want to have baby yet! too much left to do and we arent ready... not to mention the op is booked for the 10th, so she isnt allowed to try and come earlier... lol!
