Hi Everyone,
M is 3 and a half months old now. She gets bored of the same old games so I'm trying to think of new ways to entertain her while she's up. We do floor play, rolly pollies on my bed, upsies downsies, all the normal stuff which is fun but she loves new things. Got her a bumbo seat and made her a little table that we play at too. I read yesterday in a magazine about putting bubs in front of the mirror cos they are really facinated by their reflection. Cant keep them there that long but might buy you a minute or two lol. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

i used to put the babies on the floor under a play gym and talk to them... they are only up for a couple of mins anyway. you dont want to over stimulate them. ------------- http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker">

| peek-a-boo! Entertains Tane for ages! As well as big loud kisses and rasberries, bouncing him on my knee singing silly songs, singing anything for that matter makes him crack up! Dancing around the living room, getting a big light blanky and lifting it in the air and letting it slowly fall down, clapping songs/hand movement songs, like clap-hands till daddy comes home, and pat-a-cake. |

I found PAFT an invaluable resource for ideas of games etc at different stages. Ask your plunket nurse about it asap as I think you need to join up before 4-6mnths ------------- Mummy of Two Boys B: 2004 K: 2007 |

A toddler????? Hell NO!!!!! LMAO!!
We do all the jumping singing games etc. I was just curious to see if anyone was more inventive than me. She's not satisfied with play gyms and standard floor play. She wants constant change, colour and noise. She's a stroppy little miss that lets me know the second she gets bored lol. She laughs her head off when we try something new but is bored with it by the next day lol. At that age Jody's enjoyed (for a few days anyway) when I would lie on my back on a bed, sit her on my belly/pelvis and bounce!
Maybe try blowing some bubbles? You can make your own with dish washing liquid and water, and any loop you can find, we used a cable tie yesterday. Awwwww at the 2 mummies! lol -------------

Parents as first teachers... i dont know that its available in all areas none of my friends in welly knew anything about it but all my friends in Masterton do... i was really gutted when i got told its probably not available here ;( -------------

SPARC (Sport and Recreation NZ) have some free booklets with ideas for play and development:
http://www.sparc.co.nz/education/active-movement/overview You can ring up and they send them to you with a dvd - I haven't watched the dvd yet but there's some ideas in the booklets like blowing bubbles, rolling ball in front of them while on tummy so they follow it with their eyes etc. It has suggestions for both newborns and toddlers. Often I put on music and move DDs feet or hands in time to the music which she seems to enjoy. We walk around the house alot while I talk nonsense and visit all the mirrors. I watch her play a bit by herself on playmat and then I join in. |
