Hi there,
Just after some advice if this could be teething? Jack is 9months old, and for the last week has been really miserable, cries, doesnt eat solids, has diarrhoea, just generally isnt himself. We took him to the dr last week and he said probably teething and gave us some pedialyte so he doesnt get dehydrated. But Im concerned? Are babies normally this upset when they get teeth??!!

Hi, my son went through all of those symptoms when he got his first teeth a few weeks ago! I gave him lots of frozen watermelon in the gauze feeder. I also made marmite rusks:
Bread, crust removed and rolled/flattened out
Spread with marmite
Roll up tight and bake in oven

Hang in there! It does pass.

Sounds like what we've just been through. While Daniel is teething, I'm putting it down to a virus. Lots of things are put down to teething even though there's not a lot of research to back it up. Even if it is a virus, there's not much that can be done - keep fluids up and regular Pamol (same treatment for teething). My GP (who I saw on Friday) said that if Daniel wasn't better by Wednesday, to go back, so maybe just head back in the middle of the week if nothing has changed. Hope it does pick up soon - it's hard work having a miserable wee bub.
