Jayden is now quite often (like a few times a week) having leaky nappies which result in wet clothes, wet sleeping bag and wet sheets and a baby that wakes in the middle of the night!

We use huggies and often when this has happened in the past i shift up to the next size but hes already in 10-15kg and isnt 10kg yet (almost) so not sure what to do

What brands to other people use at night? disposiable or cloth? and what do you find works the best?

Thanks!

Cloth! We use DesignerBums hemp fitted nappies with a bamboo booster at night and have never ever had a leak (thanks to kiwivic for the recommendation!). In summer I was using DB merino covers over them but at the moment we're using woollen longies ( wool because it breathes and keeps everything dry).

PM me your snail mail addy, I'll lend you a couple of our night nappies to try (I recently did a count up and I have a few too many nappies ) (or detour past the next time you're heading to Auckland, or I'll give them to you at the party if you can last that long!).

We trialled Ecobubs wool pockets at night as well, stuffed with a hemp/microfibre trifold and a bamboo trifold, and that didn't leak either but with it really only being one layer I didn't trust it as much, I love fitted nappies overnight. The other nappy that's worked overnight is the new style DB (again) bamboo pocket fitted although we have a couple of Larges he doesn't really fit yet. Last night I tried our new Dream Eze fitted and while it's a lovely nappy it just didn't have the same absorbency (but thanks to the woollen longies still no leaks).

Actually I'd recommend woollen longies regardless of what you decide on, even over sposies, if your nappies leak at least the wool will keep your bedding dry. If you have a relly that knits there are a few free patterns around, you can often get longies second hand through TNN (I'll keep an eye out for you), or you can get them new through http://www.tweedle.co.nz/tweedle/products.aspx?section=17&category=130 - Tweedle or http://www.craftfetish.co.nz/home.php?cat=258 - Craft Fetish . We have two pairs that we rotate - they just need airing between uses and the occasional wash and re-lanolising (I have some lanolin spray so super easy).

You could always buy a cloth nappy cover (like bummis etc) or an empty pocket nappy and put that on over top of the sposie as an extra waterproof layer

Hey Weegee where are the knitting patterns, I might get Mum to make some longies.

And where did you get your lanolising spray from.

Too lazy to google as I've gotta go out.

I'd go up another size in the huggies but keep using the toddler size for day.

I got my Sudz n Dudz spray from DesignerBums when I bought my covers but you can also get it from Mother's Instinct or Bumbles at the very least (ooh just checked on Mother's Instinct and she has some super cute longies too)

Do they have to be a certain thickness? My Mum has a pattern for pants with feet & I'm not sure how thick the wool is that she is using but I imagine not that thick, ie baby 4 ply I think it is?

Hi Kye,
I had exactly the same prob as you a few weeks back - using Huggies bubs would have extremely wet nappies at night, wet clothes, wet sleeping bag, wet cot. I found using the sweet cheeks waterproof nappy cover over the top of the huggies nappy work a treat. Honestly they're awesome!!!!! I tried everything - even tried other nappies (which were far worse than Huggies). And what's great about the sweet cheeks waterproof nappy cover is that I got them from trademe, instead of through the shops for about $5 cheaper. This is the link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Baby-gear/Nappies-changing/Cloth-nappies/Other/auction-225527216.htm These nappy covers fit all different sizes - one size fits all, cos they've got domes - newborn through to a 3 year old. Best of luck.

I had the same problem a couple of months back. I was using huggies and just started making sure the nappy was done up REALLY tight, especially around the legs.

Try using Homebrand nappies, I have found that they very rarely leak, far far far less often than huggies or Treasures....   My two year old uses either the Crawler or Toddler size....
