when henry was a little baby he had very bad reflux so spent a lot of time in a front pack as thats the only time he was happy. The problem is it killed my back and my neck and i ended up having to see a chiropractor. I really liked having him so close to me and since having been reading about the benefits of baby wearing.
I think it would be ideal with this next baby as i will be hands free to deal with a 16month old etc. So i searched it on youtube and saw heaps of videos on ones just using a piece of material.
So what id like to know is what kinda material would i need and how wide and long would it need to be? The pieces the women were using looked very long.
oh and ps if i did make one would it be ok to carry henry in it atm while i dont have a bump? i carry him around anyway
Thanks in advance

Ahha, you need to PM weegee (she'll be back on in the weekend) - she's made a few Mobys including one out of lace curtains!
Otherwise, here's http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?p=7954381 - one link and http://wearyourbaby.com/ - here's another
I've never used one but quite a few girls on here have so I'm sure they could answer your questions about wearing it now. Also, try www.slingbabies.org.nz - slingbabies as well

I'm pretty sure you could use it now.
5.5 or 6m of fabric about 60cm wide. But the key is the thickness of the fabric.

is the key not too thick? I kinda figure that im carrying him anyway it would probably be easier on my back to be using one of those things

thickness & weave. Needs to not have too much stretch. Thickness like good quality t-shirt material.

Another option is the Ergo Sling, its brilliant, you can wear baby from newborn (with an insert) up to 40lbs - front/hip/back - I liked our baby bjorn but couldnt wear Hayden from about 20lbs as it wasnt comfortable but I've tried a friends Ergo and its so so comfy.
