is there anyone that's had good results with anything to do with pcos and TTC? i know that if nothing happens by the 6 month mark i will be sent to repromed in chch, any advice would be awesome..

Hi Divey, there's a whole lot of us in the infertility forum if you want to come join us. I have PCOS and my AF went walkabout for a few months last year.   I took vitex... not sure if that's what brought it back but you could give it a try. It's totally natural and you can get it in liquid or tablet form from any health shop.

Hi Divey, I'm new to this site but have been lurking for a while :-) I have PCOS and are TTC. Although I haven't had success yet, I have recently starting taking metformin and seems to be helping regulate my cycles, have you been taking it long? I think Vitex helps as well, I have just started taking it again, since I'm having a break from clomid.

Hi Treen,  I was wondering if you had been prescribed Metformin for PCO's?

Hi Shezzey, no, not yet. DH and I have decided to stick with acupuncture and Chinese herbs till Dec. If we have no luck, we'll go see FA and ask about Metformin. Have you been on it?

Hi Treen, yea  I started a few months ago and then stopped because I didnt enjoy the side effects, but have since found out that you have to take them with food.  I have read a few success stories from Metformin (from googling) and that is why I decided to start them again.   This month I had a very strong OPK so do think that they help.   Maybe do a google on it and see what you think.

Tinky,  Welcome to Oh Baby         I have being taking the Metformin with Vitex.

I'm on my 6th cycle of clomid with no luck so far, though in saying that I wasnt ovulating due to my PCOS and I have 3 times on clomid. In my TWW now (CD 23).

Do any of you ladies know about PCOS and OPK's? I read on stupid "Dr Google" and they said that OPK's give a lot of false positive surges in alot of women who have PCOS?

Hi Divey, welcome to OhBaby

I found out that I have PCOS after a long time of TTC and making an appointment at FA after I attended an open evening last year. I had no idea and just thought that I had very irregular cycles (80+ days )

I had a scan at my initial appointment which confirmed what the doctor thought anyway. I was given Provera to induce a period and put on 25mg of Clomid. I was very lucky to ovulate and conceive on the first cycle and now have a gorgeous boy!!

I tried vitex but it didn't do anything for me. All the best in your TTC journey.
I know how hard it is.

I'm not sure re OPK, Mindy. I stopped using them because they we so expensive. I just use charting and a Maybe Baby now.

I have PCOS and charting helped me conceive due to irregular cycles. Obviously it's not gonna work if you're not ovulating but great for irregular ovulation to help pinpoint ovulation and BD at the right time

Hi Divey,  its good that you are getting results to help pinpoint the problem with ttc.  I think stick with the metformin, it really does help to lower testosterone and regulate your hormones.  I also had the yucky side effects but then found out you need to take them with meals and there are some foods you cant eat.

Here is a link form a ttc website that discusses the side effects and how to deal with them.... ps. Metformin is also called Glucophage overseas

hey shezzey,

thanks for the link, some really interesting stories! i will deff look into trying some of the things the ladies suggest. i have ibs too so makes things difficult. my big problem is the complete tiredness and feeling sick. some days i will be sick when i'm at work then about an hour later feel better...but feeling tired all the time is really a pain too. i will persist with taking it though!

Thanks Aimz

Mindy, I got false positives with OPKs - SO frustrating, especially as at the time I thought they were real positives, then got kind of excited when AF didn't arrive, then just got confused! I don't use them now - the Dr said not to as they're not reliable (not sure if that's when you're taking Clomid or if you've got PCOS).

Well that sucks, I was just about to buy a whole bunch of them. I'm not on clomid ATM but I do have PCOS. So is temping the most reliable method to pinpoint OV if you suffer from PCOS?
