I am doing a bit of a clean out and packing away of Ella's old baby toys and was thinking that with the toy sales going on now (or about to start soon) it might be a good chance to stock for some new toys for the next year.

So... for 2-3 years old what are their most favourite toys and what toys did you buy that lasted them a while?

So far the toys that she seems to mainly play with are her dolls, duplo, puzzles, books, mini tramp and bike.

TIA

Daniel is in absolute love with his little tikes car. We got ours on trademe cause we didn't wanna pay retail but I can't see him giving that up anytime soon. We bring it inside on really rainy days so its not just an outside toy for us

Mini kitchens with pots and pans and plastic food were an absolute favourite in our house been 2-3 years! The amount of eggs and coffee I drank was amazing - good thing it was calorie free! lol

Mr Potato Head is a big hit in our house, same with Play-Doh with kitchen and food accessories. Sam really loves crayons too and he has a colouring book which he really just scribbles in but he likes it. I accidentally left one crayon unaccounted for though and it ended up in his bedroom and boy did he have a good go and covering his entire wall.    Lucky they were washable ones!

Great thread! Tom is really into the whole cooking role play thing. We got a kitchen from the toy library and he loves it. I am thinking of asking a grandparent for one for his birthday.

Amy's favorite toys are her WOW people. She got her first one when she was 18m and plays with them everyday. Sophie loves them too. As Amy is getting older she is playing with them differently now, lots of roll-play and chatting to them. For her 3rd birthday she got a little dolls house/cottage and so now the *people* live there and it had expanded her ideas.

She also loves the play food/kitchen stuff and the doctors set her grandparents got her for her birthday and her dress up stuff (fairy type stuff from the $2 shop)

they are like *Little People* but nicer looking - not so round/squat. They also don't require batteries but the cars/trucks have friction movement and all the sets are interchangeable.

Toy World usually has a good selection of them.
