Has anyone bought this? Is it any good? My DH is the kind who will read, and also has no experience with babies at all so I'm wondering if its a good idea to get this for him.

I'd be interested to hear peoples opinions on this, need to get DP something I think because he keeps coming up and saying things like "this week your boobs are gunna get all veiny" LOL So would like something for him from a males perspective  -------------

Yea, I like it. It's quite useful for basic stuff. It's written from the perspective of a few fathers who have grouped together, I think relevant to NZ. BUT, im not sure my DH has actually picked it up from where I put it. *Have now gone to get said book* It's made up of 9 chapters, going from finding out that your partners pregnant, to 12 months old. Has a lot of practical stuff, as it's geared towards guys (we all know guys like to fix things). I liked this side of the book, going through what you need to do and so on. Even tells you how to bath a baby, and what never to say to a pregnant woman. Um, if you have any questions on specific content just ask! -------------

Yeah I agree, this is a good easy-to-read book for both new fathers and mothers! I got it out from the library and read it first, then gave it to DH to read. I think he got a bit out of it, but he never really said.

My DH found the book really helpful. Got it for him for his birthday There's so little out there for new dads so was great to find something that was targeted to him for a change. We now have a 2 week old boy and he reckons it helped him prepare just that little bit extra for all the curve balls our little man throws us  -------------

We just had our copy of this show up, DP is completely engrossed in it and loves it he is stoked!! Definitely recommend!

My DH got this for his birthday.... not sure he has even picked it up but will check when he gets home and let you know what he thought if he has indeed read any of it. -------------

Just thought I would mention My DP is still really liking this book and even made a comment to me this morning saying he even liked the idea of being a stay at home dad since reading it (not that that is the plan at the moment but nice to know the option is there and hes that enthusiastic!!) -------------

I got this for DH when I got a book for me. I thought it unfair that the mum's get all the advice!
He's read almost up to the birth bit I think, and sometimes skites that he's ahead of me in the reading 
He's found it good. I flicked through it and the information seems straightforward, practical, and not overly technical. I like that it's written by dad's, for dad's, and I think it has helped him know what to expect and not to freak out at my various aches and the odd sharp pain. I suspect it's also the reason he's been so accommodating of my odd food needs and that kind of thing. He knew to expect it and that it was normal and not a bad thing. He wants to be useful (since, as he said, he should be sharing the icky as well since it's his fault too, and it's not really fair I'm the only one suffering, lol), and the book gives him practical ways to do that. I mentioned this review to DH and he agreed he loves the book.
Apparently in (small) part because it says about "Dad Showers - like a buck's night, without the strippers!" (but he didn't mention that last part until he showed me the bit in the book ) An amusing conversation followed on how strippers really weren't the thing for a dad's shower. No, really.
