I'm going to open up a can of worms here

OK so we have a travel system (Milano one) with capsule etc - will keep that for a while so I can use it while Jack's in daycare and take bubs out. But, we need a double stroller.

My requirements:
-not side-by-side (my boot won't allow it and I use the pram mostly in malls etc so not the most practical)
-easy to get both kids in and out of
-kid at back can actually see something when they're old enough to sit up
-actually of good quality and going to last 2-3 years
-can be used as single or double
-easy to fold down, with or without toddler seat just as long as the toddler seat can be removed easily

I REALLY want a P&T and am still looking on TM for one under $500 inc shipping but its not a happening thing at the moment. I refuse to go above $400 (prefer even lower) for a generic double pram, but will go up to $500 for a P&T because of resale value. I don't do much walking but think that'll probably change in the first wee while as dragging 2 kids in and out of a car doesn't appeal, so walking will be the best option.

Also, the ones with toddler seats on the front - I'm a bit skeptical with the tipping factor as I'm aware a lot of European countries have stopped allowing them for that very reason. And I'm guessing you can't put sun/storm covers on when you've got a kid sticking out the front? Which would be an absolute PITA.

Help! What pram do you have, how much was it, and why (or why not!) would you recommend it? TIA

I'm not sure if Jackson would be able to use one or not, but have you considered getting one of them kiddy board things (like http://www.trademe.co.nz/Baby-gear/Prams-strollers/Accessories/Other/auction-226743422.htm - this )?

How bout a Valco?

Or I've got a Childcare one from babycity or baby factory, can't rememer which and it is exactly the same as the valco ones, but was only about $300 with seat. Fantastic pram, easy to use and toddler seat easy as well, plus room so kid in the back seat dosen't feel jammed in and can't see. I wanted a valco, but couldn't justify the $400ish when Ihad already had a pram? But yeah, the childcare ine exactly the same.

oh and as for tipping, the ones with seats generally tend to have a slightly wider wheel base and cenre of gravity is a bit different to allow fir the extra weight on the front.
As for storm cover? Well i know valco do a seat with a hood (like an unbrella) so rain cover on back seat kid and hood over front seat one.
I used to put rain cover on back seat baby and jake in his wet waether gear inthe front with a piece of somethign over his legs, however I trended to not go out in the rain if it was too bad.

Hi Emz - can you stretch to $599 for a brand new one? Winkalots have the classic in red with a double seat for $599

Yeah I saw that Love'n'care one too but the resale is a lot lower (hehe I'm a scrooge!). I have plenty of time though as not planning on buying until bubs is here if I buy new so that's all good.

Must google Valco ones thanks fattartsrock

Jaycee - I did see the classic one but thought hey if I got a classic one I might as well pay a wee bit extra for a few more features! See the trap with P&T

Hmm weegee I think the kiddy board might be a wee bit out of Jack's league lol he'd find way too much pleasure in jumping off it

Thanks for the great suggestions, has definitely given me some ideas. Keep em coming

I have the Love n Care Europa and it is EXCELLENT! Its actually better than the Phil and Teds as it has a back cover while in the newborn mode whereas the Phil and Teds is all open at the back.

I second the Valco... we have the special edition Trimode runabout 3 wheeler (which cost $900 ish brand new).. The toddler seat is removable so you can go back to a single stroller. We haven't had tipping issues at all.

So if you can find one of those cheaper it would be worth it too..

Here is what it looks like with my girls in it..

Emz babycity have a bootiq one on special for $299 with the toddler seat, is normally $460 so not a cheapo pram. Looked pretty good to me, I was considering it but it didn't fold down small enough for me. (It's not huge just I needed one that would fit around my dog crate).
Its not on their website but this is what it looks like

The one they have is the sapphire one, only difference is that some of the material is blue, but mostly it is black.

You can fold it down with the toddler seat still attached which I thought would be handy and it comes with all the sleeping bag, head snugger etc.

I have a childcare one. It has done the job pretty well but I don't love it. I still haven't figured out how to put it down (thats DH's job) although he makes it look easy. And I find it too much work in malls because I cant see infront of it.
We have also had a few tipping issues, mainly when trying to go up a curb and the wheel spins sideways. We dont have a storm cover but for us it hasnt been an issue, I just dress the girls up warm.

In saying all that I wouldn't be without it, it is great for going on walks. I just leave it set up. And now the girls are older the like to swap seats and its a whole lot easier to push (maybe Im just little and weak) and is great to use as a single stroller.

I have a steelcraft one with a toddler seat and I love it, it was 599 though. No tipping issues we have about 15months between our children and now that our youngest one (the one in the back) is ready to be wanting to see out of it real good out 2 1/2 yr old is gonna graduate to walking, worked out real good with our last 2. We are due again in nov and will do the same all over again, although I want a new pram (just cause I like new things he he he) but this one is awesome!!

hi there - i have a question for pepsi.... :) i can't seem to find out anywhere how heavy your toddler can be in the toddler seat? my boy is already 17 kg, and it's still 4 months til i would even need a toddler seat. so don't know if you know the upper weight limit?

Thanks!!!!
