Would you eat a turkish kebab during pregnancy? I'm totally unsure but have been avoiding them so far because of any risk that may or may not exist. But I miss them...

I had a kebab the other day.........Im so over the other food we are allowed to eat. I got a mixed one and they shaved the meats directly off so that it was fresh.......... As for the salads, if they have a good grading, then you have to trust that they are good. obviously not the hummus though. And this place i went to was sooooo busy the food was turning over fast..........which is always good...............I mean how many people here eat the BK or Maccas burgers with a bit of salad in it??? you have to trust that thats been washed.......!!
I also had KFC, I had crispy strips and wicked wings, but nuked the cr*p out of them when i got them home...........I plan on having a new roller wrap today from there but will ask for out of the oven popcorn chic!!!

Leftovers are fine as long as you cook the hell out of them. If it's hot enough that you need to blow on it then you've killed any bugs.

What's wrong with hummus? It should be just chickpeas, oil, garlic, lemon and flour. I've been eating hummus all weekend! And mayo... which is apparently not a high risk. Because it is almost entirely fat the bugs can't live it in because they don't get enough oxygen to reproduce.

Umm... Bought mayo is fine, it's the mayo that's made fresh by the place. That mayo might have raw egg in it because cafes might not heat treat their mayo. Raw egg's bad for listeria apparently.

Hummus, I'm not sure

Hummus is fine if its eaten within a day or two of being bought........just like anything that needs to be eaten within a day or two after opening

I think some hummus brands had listeria in something that was added to them? I can't remember what though, sorry. It was posted here somewhere a wee while ago if that helps, lol. I think it was an additive that most hummus don't have though.

My personal take on the whole food thing is that 9 months of missing out on my favourite things, or making them myself, is worth it to avoid the potential lifetime of guilt if I'd eaten something that harmed my baby. Just my opinion though - I know I'm the type to blame myself if I did get listeria somehow.

I eat store bought kebabs, I'm vegetarian anyway so just have falafel in them (normally microwaved) with salads, hummous and chilli sauce.
It's too hard to not eat anything!
