Hiya,

We're just looking at options for further down the track if our possible day care doesn't work out with M not settling.

Does anyone know what it costs for one of the Porse in-home Nanny's? Going to call on Monday but I'm curious now lol.

A girl in my coffee group uses a Porse nanny, and from memory I think she said it was around $20/hr? I could be completely wrong though!

I have a friend in Auckland who's paying $19/hour. Just be aware that they become your employee, so you may have to pay Kiwisaver etc.

My sister pays $18 an hour (in Auckland) and you have to factor in holiday pay, sick leave etc. In home childcare is a much cheaper option- Porse do this as well but you probably knew that!

There is always the option of a student nanny, I know the one in Welly does some in-home placements. Might be a cheaper option if you are wanting someone in the home.

I am a porse caregiver, but work in my own home. Thats a much cheaper option again.

Good luck!

Our porse nanny was $18.00hr including hol pay etc, we had our 4 children cared for by her so had a winz subsidy which paid a lot of it. Our problem came though when she left and we couldnt find a suitable replacement. Only inexperienced ones were available, so the children had to go to preschool.

Yup, childcare is the one of the few places where I won't go for the cheapest!

I was paying my nanny (thru Homegrown Kids, similar to Porse) $16 when she first started, now I pay her $20 an hour as she's been with us 2 years and her role is now much more demanding than it used to be (she went from having the gremlins 12 hours a week while I worked from home to having 3 under 3 and doing all the 'mum' things like school run, after school activities etc. while I work outside the home). We get WINZ subsidies to cover a lot of it, for us it works out cheaper than having 3 in daycare and one in after school care.

I have looked into this too, and Porse nannies range from $15-$20 per hour I think depending on location and hours etc?

As a nanny myself, i was on $18 an hour as a self contractor. if you have a nanny in your home, you will be paying between $16 - $25/hr depending on qualifications, experience etc.

If you are looking at home care (sending child to someone elses home,) You will be looking between $3 - $10/hr. From my experience with porse. that is.
