Hey ladies I was wondering if anyone else suffers from this at present or has and what to do to help! Ive been getting it pretty bad lately and along with everything else im just getting sick of it! I wish I had some advice - if I did I would use it myself! I am guzzling Mylanta tabs atm, but they aren't really helping much.
I find bread and carbs tend to set it off which is a huge pain in the a** as I am trying t9o snack healthy on things like sandwiches and toast. Icecream at night seems to help before bed, or yoghurt. Plus it gives me something to line my stomach when I take my multivits (I tak ethem at night coz they make me sick) -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Try tilting your pillows up so ur more upright in bed i did this last night and it worked. Also found milanta liquid worked for awhile but doesnt seem to anymore  Hope you feel better soon

| man I am the queen on indigestion and reflux! I get it pregnant or not. Milk is great as is ice cream (thats my excuse for why i go through almost a tub a week anyway) titralic (sp) is the best thing I have found thats safe during pregnancy. You can get it from a chemist ($12 for 100) or get your midwife to prescribe it for you ($15 for 200) well thats the prices in chch anyway. Raise your pillows or bed if possible, I currently have 5 pillows holding me up. Try not to bend your neck/throat to much, keep straight from the shoulders. Try to keep you throat higher than your body so bend from the knees rather than bending down as this can cause the bile or whatever it is to come back into your throat. Bread is setting me off at the moment but also oj can do it to along with the normal spicy foods etc. Oh and dont eat just before going to bed, wait at least half an hour. Hope some of this helps |

*cough* Titralac *cough*  They are a generic antacid that you can only get from the chemist, but don't need a prescription for, I find them quite good. I second milk and yoghurt, but found they don't last as long. Have also used Quickeze, and there is a homeopathic remedy out there that you can just spray into your mouth which is quite good - Hardy's or somewhere like that would have it (think the brand is Biochemics ??). Some advice my midwife gave me that I've found really useful as well is to try and not drink anything half an hour either side of eating a meal, as it makes the food softer and hence able to come back up a lot quicker. | oooh i discovered that quickeez make different flavoured chewy tablets and they seem to be working for me at the moment, can get them from the supermarket and a packet of 4 which contains about 5 per thingee is about $5.60. |

see that is funny cause gaverscon work's best for me I found mylanta did not work its funny how weare all differnt, but I have been just putting up with it lately I have heaps of milk that seem's to help a wee bit oh so does ice cream or at least that is what I tell hubby so he will go get me some. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Stay away from coffee and chocolate?!?!? Aw, man!! Not that I have much of either, but when I have them, I RELISH them. Dag nab it. I've found a glass of milk helps (and it's good for baby's bones) - I ordered "a tall trim milk, thankyou" with as much dignity as I could muster at a turkish restaurant in the weekend, and I don't lie down just after eating a meal. Also, garlic is off the menu now (learned that the unpleasant way) and while I still persevere with my OJ, it does set off the reflux. It sux, eh! ------------- Andie |
