I was just wanting some ideas on what types of meals to take to a new mum that could be frozen, or eaten fresh?

TIA

Meals like lasagne and macaroni cheese are good.

Pasta sauces made up like with mince and veges alreayd cooked and added, then they would just need to boil some pasta.

I also am freezing extra mince pie or chicken pie fillings that i make so i can just defrost and shove a pastry layer on top and then cook.

Pies are nice winter meals. Also like Hannahbil said, bolognaise (sp) sauces are good as it can be easily turned into a meal with pasta or rice.

Shepherds pie, pasta bakes, lasagne and most casseroles freeze well. That is such a great idea, you are a great friend

As others have said lasagne (I made myself a whole lot before Ben was born) and Shepards Pie.

For fresh meals, DH's boss came over last weekend and his wife had made us a chicken pasta salad which was great as it was a really easy lunch and snack for a day or so.

Baking is always good for the freezer as well

this isnt a meal but when i had henry someone made me really big savoury muffins and free flow froze them. They were great for the middle of the night feeds when i was starving. Id just bung one in the microwave before i started feeding and it was ready when id finished. I cried the first night i ate them because they were so good and it was such a sweet thing to do lol.

Before my daughter was born I made Strogonoff's (Chicken, Beef and Lamb). I just used the maggi packet stuff. They freeze good and you can have it with pasta or rice. I do my rice in the microwave absoprtion method 1 cup rice, 2 cups water 12min on high and that usually feeds 4 people or my husband and I for dinner then also his lunch.

Smoked fish pie was also easy and good to freeze.
I just make a thick white sauce, add frozen peas and corn and flaked smoked fish either from a tin of fresh. Flakey puff pastry as a base or bread crusts (crust side in) top with mashed potato and cheese.
*If your not keen on fish you can use cooked chicken.
*Chicken, bacon and mushroom in the thick white sauce also makes a nice pie to freeze.

before the boys I just made large batches of Lasagne and indial meals - you can buy containers at the plastic box. and basically you have premade single indian meals (with chicken and rice)
