Well my poor little Sophie has go chicken pox (a week before she was due to be vaccinated no less ). She is mostly OK BUT a large amount of the spots are in and around her bottom (front and back).

I am being super careful during nappy changes to be very gentle and I am using muslin clothes and little flannels with water to wipe (rather than baby wipes) but my question is: what can I use to sooth the area? I have Calamine lotion and Weleda Combudoron gel for the rest of her body but I can't use in in and around this area.

PLEASE does any one have any ideas of what I could add to the water to help sooth and calm the area, it looks so sore

Put her in a bath of Pinetarsol. Also Hypercal cream will be safe to use. That is the only things I used on Alia when she had a really nasty dose & yep they were everywhere too

We also used pinetarsol and I would give Gabrielle a sponge bath with it during the night - she was miserable with it. Hope Sophie gets well soon!

We did baking soda - 1tsp in the baby bath (so you'll want to up the amount) when Rowan was a baby and had weeping nappy rash.

I know it's not exactly the same but probably the same principle.

I also used pinetarsol. I hate the smell but it really helps. I got a 1L bottle from the chemist and I use it for other things too (like its great for thrush).
