DD is 7 months old and has been FF for last couple of months, recently I had struggles with her drinking her bottles, she was only taking 100 - 120mls 4 -5 times a day, I changed to the size 3 teats and this seemed to remedy the problem and we were having 3 x 180mls and one of 240 plus 2 feeds of solids a day.

I now seem to be having trouble with the bottles again for example today went like this: (we have increased to 3 lots of solids)

7.30 - 180mls + solids for breakfast

11.30 - 160mls + solids

4.00 - 160mls

5.30 - solids (ate a large amount of solids - this is the solids meal that was not included last week)

7 - refused bottle and went to bed quite happily after I stopped trying to give her the bottle

I am worried that she is not getting enough, she did something similar last night but still had some of her bottle, and did not wake till 7am. Just last week she was drinking up to 360mls in the couple of hours before bed and now its virtually nothing.

I don't know if its because of the solids filling her up or possibly because DH would normally always give her the bedtime bottle and he is not here and its me doing it instead.

Oh and also we have kind of dropped the 3rd nap of the day so the feeds before bed are closer together, maybe this is the problem???? or is it just part of the natural transition from bottles to solids.

Is every baby meant to have a bottle before bedtime?

Sorry for the long post any advice/ideas would be very welcome.

I struggle to get milk into my son. Sometimes he doesn't drink until 1pm.
He seems happy enough though, and is thriving so as long as Heidi seems okay I wouldn't worry too much :)

It sounds like heaps to me but then again you forget so quickly how much they have at that age. H & E have gone through this more than once. In fact in the last week E has been off her morning and bedtime bottle completely but she drinks so much water during the day so I'm not too worried. I used to freak out when the girls wouldn't drink all of the formula recommended on the can but my Mum said "Lisa if they're hungry they'll eat" and I figured she had a valid point lol.

Personally I wouldn't be worried. She'll probably go back to guzzling it down in a week or so it may just be that she adjusting to solids and the nap being dropped.

Thanks guys, I think I am probably worrying more with DH being away. I was going to ring plunket line and then thought NO! they will just make me worry and prattle off what a baby of 7 months SHOULD be eating/drinking etc. She is happy and loves her solids most of the time, and she has been growing out of her clothes too and at least I know I am normal as I am doing the worrying mum thing LOL!

Jayes milk and solids intake changes when he's teething or sick. It's frustrating but never seems to last long before he's back to his normal eating habits.

It looks pretty fine to me too

C has gone up to 3 meals a day now as well, seems like he has a fairly similar routine to Heidi. Some days he will only drink 150ml and yet 2 weeks ago he was having 240ml per feed. He is definitely eating way more solids though than he was then

Also, sucking seems to bother C more when he's teething but he's happy to eat off a spoon or chew on something in the mesh feeder thingee.

Does Heidi take a sippy cup? Or do you give her water in a bottle? I try and get C taking a wee bit of water after his solid "meals" now, more about forming the habit but also want to get more fluids into him now he's reducing his milk intake.

Hope you're doing all right with your DH away. It's hard when they're not there to bounce these things off with and remind of you of X and Y and give you some reassurance eh
