I just copied this from the June thread in case someone else can help me lol...

I am confused about pelvic floor exercises I have no idea whether I am doing them right. I told my MW today that I'm going back to school once a week starting next week to take Jump Jam for the kids (its a kids aerobics programme - lots of fun and I need the exercise). She said I might want to try some at home first in case I leak?! That freaked me out! How do I know if I'm doing them right??

WARNING TMI!!!

If you want to check, you can try to stop your flow of urine mid-stream (a good way to find the muscles) or you can check with your finger that the muscles are tightening internally (or you can ask your DP to hold still during special cuddles and do some then - if he smiles you KNOW you're doing them right!)

I find the stop/starting while you pee a good one to do as it is quite easy to tell if you are doing them right

I do the stop/start pee thing. I try and do at least 5 (aim for 10) with every pee. These days its only 5 cos they are still weak and it takes a while for the flow to stop LOL.

I also whilst typing roll my hips forward and just try and squeeze the muscles in there. For some reason i cant do them sitting normally. I try and do 10 and hold for 10 seconds each and the 10 quick ones and do it for as long as I can.

I was so good when I was pg, I would do them on the bus on the way to work but these days I just forget all the time.

Definately do the stop start while you pee thing! Once you have found the muscle you will be able to do them any time.
I had no issues with leaking. It is still good to exercise your pelvic floor muscles now so that you don't have any issues as you age.
I also purchased some Smart balls (featured in the Need it section of Little Treasures magazine Aug/Sep 08). They are weighted balls that you insert like a tampon and squeeze to strenghten your muscles www.sexgear.co.nz search word Smart balls.

The smart balls work really well.

TMI - one thing for me - I could stop my pee very easily but still mine were buggered (to the point of I needed surgery 2 months ago as I nearly had a prolapsed bladder), so that always isn't the best way to see if they are working the best. I leaked every time I ran (which was a PITA with the people I work with and PT being a big part of life.

I did these straight after my birth, 50 squeezes with each feed. Helped take my mind off sore nipples
And I haven't had any incidents so far, 8 months on!

I also read that sometimes you can have leakage issues until your period returns as it can be a hormonal thing!

I would def attempt running and jumping at home before doing it in public
