Hi there. My name is Tarsh, and a friend of mine recommended these boards.  I am a forum addict but usually read and post at an American site.
Anyways about me - I'm 30, my hubby is 30 as well, and we are TTC #2. We've have a 2.5yr old girl who is absolutely adorable..of course! We have been TTC #2 for 18 months now - and are getting into the infertiliy/fertility specialist stuff. I have had 2 miscarriages, 3 unsuccesful cycles of clomiphene, and this month had an HSG done. Hopefully that does the trick! I would love to hear from anyone, but especially those dealing with infertility/secondary infertility. Thanks - and I look forward to getting to know you all. |

Welcome Tarsh  And it's not really a warning because I already KNOW you're going to become an Oh Baby addict just like the rest of us !  Hehehe anyway, you've come to a great place, especially for advice and support... Welcome Tarshaa, there are a couple of girls on here who are dealing with fertility issues aswell, i had endo removed and at the same time was told i hadnt ovulated for a year  so was diagnosed with PCOS aswell. I had a specialist all through my TTC and when i was put on clomid we were just lucky i guess that it happened the first time, i really really really feel for you coz i couldnt really hack the side effects of the clomid it was horrid and i refused to take it again (not that i wouldnt have lol) but yeh. I wish you alllll the luck in the universe and hope you dont have to go through to much more to get your BFP

Hi Jezsika. I have PCOS too, but still have a regular cycle. I found that very confusing! I hadn't realised that you can have PCOS without the ovulation issues. Learn something everyday I guess! Clomid isn't fun thats for sure. I had totally different side effects each month beleive it or not. The first cycle I just had a few hedaaches and hot flushes. The second cycle I was the bia*ch from hell, and the third cycle I was overemotional and cried at the drop of a hat! lol. My body responded incredibly well to the clomid, I had fantastic ovulation, and multiple follicles, but nothing came of it. I just had an HSG done last week, and it turns out one tube is completely blocked, and the other had closed itself, but the dye reopened it. So that explains a lot aobut why clomid wasnt working. Hopefully when I get back to see Pete Benny my specialist, he will be willing to try clomid again. I couldnt get an appt til what will be aobut CD7 of my next cycle though, so it looks like we'll have 2 cycles without help in the meantime. Not too long for you now! How exciting! I am wondering - what is clomid, what does it do, how do you get put on it etc etc. I am starting to wonder if I have actually been ovulating. I am off to the DR today as I have had these weird cramps and abdominal pain for the last fortnight and am starting to wonder if it might be PCOS. Hi Leish - nice to meet you. Well, I found out I had PCOS after going to see a fertility specialist since it had been 12 months TTC, and they orgnaised to have an ultrasound done. I would think if you bring up your concerns to your GP then they would be able to organise an u/s to check it out - I really dont know for sure though. Ultrasound is one of the best ways of checking if someone has PCOS - it shows the cysts in the ovaries. Clomid (or clomiphene) is a fertility drug they use to induce ovulation in people who aren't ovulating, or too assist ovulation for those who are ovulating but having issues. Its a hormonal based drug, so does weird things to your moods etc! It's a 5 day course - usually starting on about CD3. Most of the time they will monitor your cycle while using clomid, by blood tests. This just makes sure your body is doing what it needs to. On my 2nd clomid cycle they also did an ultrasound prior to ovulation to check how many follicles I had. It turns out I react very well to clomid and had 3 follicles, so possibly 3 eggs. That was a bit nervewracking waiting to see if I was pg since there was a possiblity of triplets! But I wasn't, which was a bummer. Hopefully I have answered your questions but feel free to ask any others. Hi Tarsh and welcome. I am a recent member of Oh Baby. I am 32 and DH is 37 and we have been TTC for 23 months. DH had a vasectomy when he was 30 and I was 25 (we were together then but didn't think we were going to want kids), and had it successfully reversed in 2004. No known issues, but I haven't seen a fertility specialist yet. I am currently working with a naturopath and am hopeful of a good outcome soon.

Leish - PCOS is cysts on the ovaries and sometimes like i had dormant ovaries, i was getting regular periods on the exact same day each month but i wasnt ovulating. I had to wait 6 months before i was allowed to try clomid, if u have PCOS most of the time they will put u on metformin which acts to balance out hormone issues, actually know a few people on it I just went straight to clomid 50mg CD 2 - 6 coz i was ovulating all over the show anywhere from CD 16 to CD 23 and was determined it would work lol
Tarshaa - Yer i had horrid mood swings, hot flushes, a little depressed, felt sick and that was taking it at night LOL I hope that you dont need to go on any more drugs and are successful in the next cycle

Tarsh - the naturopath I am seeing specialises in fertility issues and has success with 2 out of 3 patients that he treats. He even flies overseas to consult patients. Anyway, he is also an iridologist so after viewing the eyes and going through questions regarding your cycles etc he then prescribes natural supplements to get everything in order. Lots of things that I thought were 'normal', like having pain with my period, apparently are not normal. I now have a pain free period and am generally feeling great. According to the naturopath, all is looking good for me to be able to conceive, so I guess I will give it a little time. Patience is the hardest thing! Thanks Tarsh and Jess. The GP told me years ago that I might have PCOS so it has always been in the back of my mind. I just got back from seeing him and I am off tomorrow to get my hormone blood tests done. I am really glad that he is cos I would hate to wait the 12 months (I only started getting my AF in on 1 March this year after being on DEPO for 6 years) and then find out that after all that time that I hadn't even been ovulating. He said that if I am still having these cramps then we will get an ultrasound in a couple of weeks. I feel good about getting in to see him early and getting the blood tests done at least.

Hi ladies
I am finally pregnant after 18 months of TTC!! I got diagnosed in Nov 2005 with PCOS and started on Clomid (fertility drugs) in March 2006 at 50mg. Metformin was also being taken. After 3 cycles of Clomid the dosage was gonna be increased this month to 100mg, but I'm now pregnant 5 weeks and 2 days!! I was due to have a lapscropy and tubal patency op in another 3 months so no need for it. Its been a harrowing time as this is my second time of trying for a baby. Gave up after over 4 years of trying back in the 90s!!

I responded really well to it, so hopefully I can either get pregnant without help now that I have had my hsg, or I can go back on clomid and have a successful pregnancy that way.
