Hi, Im new here, Im at work so have had a quick browse through the site. I have a question if anyone can help me out... I have gallstones (last attack was last year) but I read some horrifying stuff on an american website about ladies who got pregnant with gallstones and were in incredible amounts of pain throughout pregnancy and some having to have operations during the 2nd trimester to remove the stones. I don't want my gallbladder removed, my husband and I are TTC and don't want to put it off for too much longer, but I don't want gallstone pains during pregnancy. Thinking about doing some flushes to get rid of the stones... is anyone else out there who has experienced pregnancy with gallstones or anything along those lines??? Thank you so much for any replies :)

Hi Missygrrl, welcome to Oh Baby!

I haven't personally experienced gall stones while pregnant, but I'm pretty sure that there is at least one lady here who has. Maybe if you post your question in the Pregnancy section you may get some answers. Not all the pregnant ladies and mums come into this section.

i suffered gall stones a in mid 2001 (a few years back and OWE! they are really painful! i thought i was dying) they are mostly silent but i do notice them every now and then still on the odd occasion.

i am onto my third pregnancy, and havent been a major problem while pregnant -the odd twange- but everyone is different.
my cousin suffered them before she found out she was pregnant but while she was pregnant (does that make sense?!)

someone else has had them on here while pregnan, just got to jog my memory, was a few months ago? in the pregnancy section.

Pick me pick me, Ive had them during pregnancy yay me and also my sister AND SIL had them during pregnancy, both of them had attacks prior to pregnancy but this was my first and so far only attack. Neither of them seemed to get any worse during, just made sure they ate carefully. my sil had a couple of really bad attacks around the 2nd trimester but they would not operate because chances of baby surviving were to low but she was given lots of good drugs none of which have effected her wee girl. My sister went through 2 full term pregnancies and a couple of m/cs before she had her gall bladder removed and didnt have any major attacks while pregnant. I think its different for everyone (isnt everything when your TTC or pregnant) but I wouldnt worry to much unless you were having them all the time anyway. chances are you could go through a pregnancy with no attacks and if it does happen they wont operate here in NZ unless its safe for baby and you. Hope that may help. Good luck TTC

Hi everyone! Thank you for being sooo friendly and welcoming! I really appreciate your feedback and BOY does it ease my mind! I havent had any attacks all year, and I think if I do a couple of liver flushes before I get pregnant that I'll be fine, plus I've heard of another lady that did flushes during pregnancy and she was okay! So I can kinda relax for now, and check out the other message boards, but if anyone else has any responses for this string please keep them coming! Thank yoU
