Hi guys, I'm trying to buy a capsule, but we only have a farmers store where I am so I'm looking online-but it's a bit hard not being able to really see them! I'm looking at a milano with a base ($169 for the cap from babycity) does anyone have one of these and could tell me what they're like? Any others that aren't too expensive that you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!

My capsule came from Farmers, as my mum bought us a JollyJumper pram and the capsule was a matching set. The capsule can clip into the pram, so it was handy not having to take Rhys out of the capsule and into the pram, especially if he was asleep. The capsule alone was around the $160 mark too, but it doesn't have a base. I can't comment on the Milano, I'm sorry, as I've never look at them.

this is a great site to see them and check the safety standards...
i was shocked to see baby factory sell capsules which do not pass the NZ safety standards !!

At my antenatal class we were warned about buying 2nd hand of sites - as you don't know what has happened to the capsule - has it been in an accident, dropped ... Same as car seats don't touch them if over 5 years old. Will the seatbelt fit around the capsule ...

I had a evenflo discovery with a base for my first one, but found it didnt fit at all in any cars I tryed it in, it flopped all around the place!!!
So I got a Baby trend one with a base, that was great, it had a adjustable head rest too (just turn a knob) and 5 point harness which was good!!
i would highly recommend getting one with a base, it makes it SO easy to get them in and out, no fiddling with a seat belt, just click and go!!!

Hey chick, we have a Milano one with the base from baby city so can definitely comment!
I would say they are SO worth the money (we had the pram too so could just snap it in but don't need the combo). Def get the base as the capsule is a bit higher than some so will not do up in a lot of cars.
Cons - the fabric is a bit shiny so if you have a summer baby they sweat a bit in it - I used to just put a flat nappy in if that was the case. But the fabric is also good being like that as its easily wiped clean if you need to do it. Also, it's more upright than a lot of other ones, which is a benefit later on, but in the early days baby can look a bit funny sitting up more than lying (I would recommend a head support thing that you can buy for about $10).
Pros - the absolute BEST thing about the Milano capsule is it's quite big so you can use it for ages. believe it or not, Jack was in the capsule (in our 2nd car) up until he was 14mo He's not a giant (in the 25th%ile for weight but 60th%ile for height). I found that a lot of other capsules just couldn't accommodate that. Even though we had another carseat from about 11mo, we found it great to have the capsule as a spare up until that point. So you definitely get a good bit of use out of them.
Also the sunshade is great - doesn't slip like a lot of Evenflo ones do and covers baby quite a bit (was important for us in summer).
Anyway... you can probably tell I'm sold on them! Any more qu's just ask, or PM me

NZ has the second to worst saftey standards in the world, sweeden has the best, but yes that is shocking, if youre worried do a little more research on the australian saftey standards and the UK ones also.
