Yes take your partner. It helps if they are there too because it's hard to remember everything when you're first starting out sleep deprived with a new baby.

The one I did at NSH we got dolls to practice with and also went through some diagrams of the makeup of the breast and discussed issues etc.

I found it hugely useful and I would (and have) recommend it to anyone.

I work as a Breastfeeding counsellor (and I can say that now I have a lisence and registration, lol) and I can truely say YES GO!!!!!!!! Your antenatal classes will cover BF, however we find that parents are so focused on he getting baby out thing, that they don't really take in the BF thing, lol. TOTALLY reccomend it!

I never went to one while i was pregnant.

Luckily for me i had no issues BFing at all. DD latched fine from the first feed, without any pain for me lol.

I would suggest going, although i could BF it would have been nice to know other things about BFing. Its good to get all the information you can get

I went to classes run by Penny Wyatt at Wellington Hospital. Definately go to them, they're really good. If you're going to see Penny (not sure if you're in Wellington), she's a little eccentric in her style but the information is incredibly useful.

I didn't realise how useful it was until I started to have problems with feeding and I was able to try a number of things that she had suggested.

I didn't go with my husband, he was away for work at the time. I would say that about 50% of the women had their partners there, so you won't feel uncomfortable either way.

i went to classes at chch womans hopsital. And they were brilliant!!! Ours were for four days during the day though so dh couldnt come. We were welcomed to bring support people however i went on my own. I think it would have been good to have someone else there as i found i forgot alot of info. Plus it was fascinating information so i would have liked to talk with someone who knew what i was talking about. I think breastfeeding classes are great!!!
