Hi Ladies,
Anyone got any good suggestions on who may stock a good variety of unisex clothing?
I tried Farmers (found ONE), tried TnT (found ONE), tried Pumpkin Patch (found TWO - but expensive!!), tried Baby Factory (found ONE). Everywhere I look they have only one or two things that are 'unisex' and some aren't even that nice looking?
Any ideas? I need to look NOW. Had my baby shower last weekend and to my surprise I wasn't given even one outfit? haha... Guess everyone had the same trouble as I am...

Unisex is a bitch i must admit. I neer found out the sex of my bubba and found that we got heaps of clothes after they were born as people wanted to give gender distinct clothes.
Sorry, can't help!

I managed to find quite a bit of basic unisex stuff, but it was SO much easier to go crazy on gender specific clothing. That said, I probably can't help you much either as I did a sizeable chunk of my early baby shopping in Canada !

I found Kmart wasn't too bad for the gender-neutral all in ones but not much else in the way of unisex outfits.

Yeah I found K-Mart was alright, but it is hard to find gender neutral outfits. I just seemed to get alot in the first week after Xanda was born, because people were waiting to find out if he was a boy or girl and then went out and brought things.

I have been collecting a few bits & pieces (ok maybe more than a few) and Ive found K-mart & Baby city are great for gender netural clothes. Now If i could find that dang shop that sells babies then i would have something to put them in LOL and i wouldnt look so obsessive

The JK outlet stores had a lot in white last time I was there, and I also got a heapof JK stuff in their end of summer sale after my m/c but before I was preg with the twins (yes, Willie thought I was a little crazy)which is gender neautral.

I know everyone says it, but really try not no buy too many newborn clothes (I know it's really hard). But you really do get given a lot, and it doesnt really matter what bubs wears for the first couple of days, esp if your in hospital. But if you do want to go shopping for unisex clothing (I can't say not too because I was a shopaholic!!) then try trade me. I was really against buying second hand clothing, but there is a lot of new items on there. And newborn clothing hardly gets warn, so it is usually in as new conition anyway!

We have also found that NICE "unisex" newborn stuff is REALLY hard to find! We have just got the nursery together and have discovered that we only have 4 sleep suits and 5 vests THAT'S IT! Fingers crossed we get some gender specific stuff once bubs arrives (i.e the day after the birth!) or else we'll be dragging the poor thing around the shops on the way home from the hospital!
But I do agree that you should hold off on getting mountains of only newborn size stuff, my mate did that and ended up with a 10lb baby with NO CLOTHES!

Thanks girls!! Kmart sounds like a good idea?
And yeap, I won't be buying too many things in newborn size for sure. Im looking at having atleast an 8 pounder, haha!
But I do need SOMETHING for the first few weeks. We only have one all in one, two pants and one jacket (and the jacket is 000)!!! Its ridiculous.
I just want to have atleast two more all in ones, one more outfit and sleepwear before bubs gets here.
I'm off to try Kmart this week for sure. :)
Thanks ladies and I will let you know if I find any other stores as everyone seems to be having the same problem....
10 days to go!!! Eeeek.

For sleepwear you could always use gowns. I did with Xanda and found them a whole lot easier to change middle of night nappies. And because newborns don't wriggle much while sleeping, they never rode up his back or anything and his legs were still toasty and warm.

I just checked the JK website and they do have some really good deals on at the mo.
My parent's shipping container arrived this weekend and you guys would not believe the amount of clothes Mum has bought for bubs! Heaps of beige and white outfits from the UK. My child will certainly be a member of the "Beige Brigade" Poor love!

Okay Ladies...
I went to T'n'T Childrenswear in Botany Downs (AKL) yesterday morning for the start of their 'winter' clothes sale and their shelves were PACKED full of unisex clothes for babies!!
I spent $40.00 and got FOUR outfits plus a woollen beanie!!
I am SOOOO happy now I really am.
I got three one pieces and one pants/jacket set (and one of the one pieces is the same design). So we now have 6 new born outfits, 4 0-3 month outfits and 2 6 month outfits so I am really happy and stress free about our baby coming into this world now. :)
Just praying our newest addition is healthy and happy. :)

ON this note went to famrers in the weekend as its got it 'famous' red dot sale and looked at the new born - unisex clothing and none of the newborn stuff was on special so came away with nothing - except other things I didn't go to buy and spent over $100. whoops we are spose to be saving
