Hey there ladies,
Am always on the look out for places to go with DS. Often it will be just meeting 1 other person so not massive groups and usually we will have a child each. I have tried googling for suggestions etc but you never really know and the best suggestions come from word of mouth.
So any places you recommend?
Heres are few of mine:
The Beach Cafe, 16 Beach Road - Awesome playground, caged in, but outside so great for summer. Open at 8am on weekends so good place to meet for brunch. Great food but more than cafe prices.
Reality Bites, Sawyers Arms Rd - Great wee table and games, puzzles for kids. Great place for quick cafe food and a coffee. Wouldn't want more than 3 or so kids there though. Service can be slow at times, basic cafe food but yummy.
Meshino, Rutland St - Wee outdoor play area so not good in winter as loud and crowded inside. Good food.
Please add some of yours so we all have a nice wee list to pick from!

The cafe at the gardens is pretty good especially if you've got babies in prams. Very roomy and of course there's the play area outside for toddlers too for the fine days.
I'm still in the early stages of heading out and about so that's all I've got to suggest at this stage although I'd agree with the Beach Cafe as a good one as well.

most coffee cultures have either a play room with toys and a telly which is playing movies, or just an area with some toys for the kids

just a note , riccarton coffee culture is a pain to get in with a pram. Near impossible to be exact

131 or 133 I can't remember what the name is but its down Stanmore road and used to be a pub. It still is half a pub but the front has been turned into a nice wee coffee shop type place and they have a wee kids area with brand new toys. They also do huge kids meals so if you have two kids you would only need to order one lol

Right up near the richmond end, by that group of shops with the carpark in the middle. The next block over from Henry Africas.

Thanks Rach! Will try that one.
Also just remembered another one-
Ris'trettos' - Top end of Barbados St (St Albans end) - cute all kids area (only good for 3 or 4 kids), nice food and coffee and not cluttered. Has 2 or 3 highchairs too. Couches and tables by the play area so good for supervising.
I agree on Coffee Cultures being a pain. The one at the Palms you have to sit outside in the mall to supervise your child in the play area.
