So I thought we could have mutton chops for tea tonight. The last couple of times I have cooked them, they have been quite dry..and I don't want them to do that again.

How would you cook them???

My Dad swears by boiling them - but then he boils everything

I'd go with Susiec's idea and slow cook them!

Generally with any 'tough' cuts of meat you want to stew 'em in some sort of gravy on a low heat over a number of hours to get them falling off the bone.

definitely slow cooked. I haven't done it myself but my FIL has always said it's the only way to do it

would put them in the oven with gravy and onions (even mushrooms and mixed vegies) and cook them on low (round 150) for around an hour - check them and another half hour if needed. i do this with Lamb chops and sure mutton would be the same

long and slow would be the recommended cooking method for mutton chops, as they can get a bit tough - either in the slow cooker or on a low heat in the oven for a few hours

They're in the oven at the moment on 140....so really low. Hopefully this will work. Next time I will try the gravy and veges in the slow cooker - anything except onions!!! I think we have some mushrooms though which I might add....

DH loves mutton...I have a roast to do at some stage as well...and it's nice and cheap!!

Mutton really does best cooked long and slow....I haven't done chops but the last time I did a mutton roast I cooked it at least 4 hours really low and it was great.

I do them in the slow cooker on low all day. I marinade them in an Indian recipe my SIL gave me and a small amount of water. After being in there so long (9-10 hours), they are falling apart - YUM!

I cook mutton on a rack sitting in water, (rack keeps them out of the water) so they moisture keeps the chops etc form drying out. And at about 150 degs.
