Can anyone recommend a house cleaner in West Auckland or more specifically in the Swanson area? I am thinking to get one for a few hours a week/fortnight. How much do they cost?

I don't know of anyone - but I'm keeping an eye on this thread in case I need help later on.

What about the pepsicles website? Or maybe those boards at the supermarket?

I checked out the Pepsicles website thanks LittleStar but they seem more short term for help initially after baby is born, and I am after something a bit more permanent. Will keep looking though

Hi Linzy - check your local paper, there are often lots of ladies that advertise in there. Prices will vary greatly on what they are expected to do and whether they are part of a company (like green acres etc).

I have a pair of ladies that come in once a week, one does DHs shirts (irons) whilst the other one cleans - I pay $45 and they are here for about 1.5 hours. I have to ive pretty clear instructions for what I want done, and its not necessarily the standard that I would do myself, but they do the big jobs like washing the floors, cleaning the shower etc which I hate!

The cleaners that come from a franchise charge more, but are prob a lot more regimented in what they do and dont do. The upside of these people is that they normally have a "handler" or manager that you can talk too if you arent happy, and they are normally background checked.

I would recommend interviewing a few people and making sure that you are comfortable with whoever you choose.
