Yay the September babies! I'm due Sept 27 with another little boy (so far called Connor Nicholas) but given the size of my HUGE bump it looks like I was due a couple of weeks ago.
Paws - I love the name you have picked for your little girl. Madeleine is a favourite and three times in a row now my boys have missed out on having Grace as a middle name due to not complying with my suggestion that they be girls.

I'm due on the 18th aswell! Feeling ok apart from the heartburn etc. And was feeling pretty shattered today so I was very glad when the power went out at work and we were sent home! Had a nice 2 hour sleep on the couch when I got home! I'm still quite small and don't actually think I will get very big at all. Its good on one hand as I'm sure I'm not as uncomfy as some but I get sick of people telling me how tiny I am and alot of people have said they didn't even realise I'm preggers I'm proud of my bump even if it is small, why do people have to make comments on our size????

I am due Sept 25 - and I'm really starting to feel uncomfortable. I dont think I am bog or small for my stage, just average, but I know what you guys mean I am sick to death of people commenting on the size and shape of my body - it is so rude! Soemtimes I wish I had teh guts to comment back - like when someone says "my your belly is looking big" I wish I could say "thank you, actually so is yours". taht woudl shut them up. ahhhh I have fantasies about being brave LOL!
I have 15 weeks to go and it seems like a LOOOOONNNG time -does anyone else feel the same, like there is no real end in sight?

Hey Jacks Mum - we were having huge problems thinking up and agreeing to a name for this little bloke - Connor came out of the blue and was sealed by the meaning - much wanted and strong willed (that pretty much sums up all of our boys).
Mrs Frantic - ohhhh yes. 15 weeks still seems like an eternity away - and I have the opposite problem - people think I am just gargantuan and act surprised when I say I'm pregnant. My in-laws have learnt not to comment from the last baby - my father in law asked me how the diet was going in front of his next door neighbour that I had only just met while I was 16 or 17 weeks pregnant with Andrew. The explosion that resulted after that means that they haven't DARED to say anything this time around.

ours is due 19th Sept. I don't really feel big yet but yep is sooooo anoying when people comment on your size. I normally get, you wouldn't even know you were pregnant. everything is going cruzy, just a bit of heartburn. Gotta say it is flying past a bit too quickly as I've still got so much to organise!!! aghhh! Can't believe in 14 weeks (give or take) I will be a mum!

I thought that I had pretty much finished with the morning sickness, however my hubby took me out to lunch today (wonderful man that he is) and I felt pretty much seasick on the ride there and back. Blegh. Lunch was good though - Sierra Cafe, Link Drive, Wairau Park on the shore...I recommend the iced mocha and sticky date pudding with caramel and cream. mmmmmmm.

Pickles on Pickering do the YUMMIEST bacon hash cakes - it's a potato and bacon hash with eggs benedict on top. Sooo yummy. I got taken there for Mother's Day this year (granted I booked it and told them that's where they were taking me, but with boys, you can't leave them to come up with their own things too often - I would have been taken to MacDonalds!)

I used to frequent The Wine Box in Albany Village, but they changed management. That place was great!

The Wine Box used to be amazingly scrummy. I last went there a couple of months ago and it was average. I'll have to make another trip to reassess my grade.
In terms of yummy coffee - Sierra Cafe in Link Drive (next to the Florist and Subway and Burger King) - the coffee tastes great and the food is worth the trip also. It won the 2005 Metro award for best local cafe for the Shore. Columbus coffee in Takapuna Mall is pretty good coffee too, however their slices, cakes etc are straight from Eve's Pantry and there is a substantial mark up - you may as well just get them from Eve's...which happens to be next door to Goldstein's New York Bagels....

Anyone else find they are feeling really full after a small meal - and if you are like me and eat a ton of food at one sitting cos you are enjoying the taste you land up walking around the house till late at night trying to get your food to "go down" - it's like my stomach has shrunk! Yep, lemon and lime chewable mylanta tablets is my post-meal munch of choice these days. They have that flavourful mix of chalk and dish-washing detergent.
I've had innersprung mattresses for both boys in their cot. They've been pretty good at surviving the hammering that both have given them.

I've given into gavoscoigne (however it's spelt!), awful stuff but at least it works!
As for the mattress, we got an orthepeditic one...(spelling???)....I was put off many of the innersprung thanks to many stories of babies (once able to stand supported) going bounce, bounce, bounce right out of the cot and sometime doing damage! So being a paranoid new parent we went for a good firm one with stuff all bounce (the sight of a 26 week preggy woman and her husband bouncing mattresses in Farmers must have been a sight! *lol*)

And yes I am thinking I have not done much and must get onto it as I am full on at work for the next 6 weeks and know I am going to be buggered!!
AH!! Next week will be better!

I came out yesterday and back at work today, but I am dreading getting sick again in this pregnancy - I am sure my immunity is down cos of it - I have never been that sick with flu before!

OH YOU POOR THING!!!!! I hope you can get as much rest as possible - going straight back into work must be tough. I ended up with an awful chest infection with Andrew that had me in the clinic on ventolin and threatened with being put in hospital and it took me three weeks to get over (at about this stage too) so you must be absolutely whacked. If it's any consolation these kind of things make you suffer horribly while the bubs doesn't really notice any difference to their nice warm surroundings.
All I can say is eat lots of fruit and vege, drink streams of water and try as best you can to stay away from anyone sick.

Thanks Maree - yeah I was on ventolin every 2 hoiurs day and night - and atrovent too. I was really worried it would be too much for bubs but she is still quite active so she must be fine...but its good to know someone else had something similar and all was well...
The other thing I noticed was how incredibally sore my sides were from all the coughing - you know how you get that sore stretched feeling from sneezing when youa re full - all the coughing I was doing was really making my ribcage and sides ache!!
argh I sound like such a winger, enough of that, I am really feeling much better!
yeah back to work is a pain all right!!! My boss is a bit of a slave driver unfortunately, but only abother 9 weeks or work or so, so just gotta get through taht and we will be home free! literally ha ha ha!
Has everyone else started putting in their paperwork for leave etc?

My sister in law managed to crack a few ribs with an episode of bronchitis over Xmas...be careful of that if you start to feel really strained or sore...not that there is much you can do to stop it unfortunately.
Paperwork - it's a good time to get it in and other stuff off to IRD...I did it all about this time when I was expecting Andrew. Now as a stay at home mum there is noooo paperwork (no paid parental leave either, but oh well)

Oh - and Mrs Frantic - swelling in hands and feet can occur. Keep drinking lots of water and try and keep your feet up off the ground - like lazing back in a reclining chair/laz-e-boy etc and make sure you mention it to your midwife. Oedema (swelling of hands and feet) can be linked with pre-eclampsia when you have a few other symptoms as well and your midwife may want to do the pee check thing to make sure that all is hunky dorey. It can also be a straight out normal part of some women's pregnancies. Yay again.

hmm yeah I will try and remember to mention the swelling thing at my next appointment. I just remembered that I am starting ante-natal this week as well at North Shore on Thursday - dont suppose anyone else here is booked in for the same group are they?
What do they do at Ante-natal anyway - do they make us watch the gory video first? (ugh! really scared about that) or do we do other stuff like how to change a nappy LOL?!?!?!
I have 8 weeks of work left, and it seems like aaagggeeeessss at the moemnt, I find myself havign a really short temper esp with my boss who I despise...cant wait to be finished and at home for Oprah O'Clock!

I was stressing about starting antenatal classes last week! They did make us introduce oursleves, say how far along we were, due date, sex if u knew etc. We had a BIG group of 18 couples so was a bit scary (I think the numbers are a lot less in big cities were they have more frequent classes, this was the only option in our town).
The "teacher" says she never shows a video cos she could show you 1000 and none might be anything like your own birth. So we breathed a sigh of relief! Found it really informative, and got heaps of useful pamplets too! Enjoy!

I did antenatal classes last year at North Shore when I was pregnant with Andrew. Didn't sign up for this pregnancy as I'd hate to think I was a slow learner that needed a repeat this soon! The classes were good - though it was a big group - about 12 couples. There were lots of videos, but after the first one and the corny 80s elevator music and pastel sweatshirts, they are all pretty much the same. And as Kellz said, the videos might not be anything like your own birth.
Enjoy the quality NSH milo, tea, instant coffee and gingernuts...and have fun. When you finish the classes all of you will have extremely huge bumps -6 weeks races by and can make quite a difference to bump sizes.

i was actually happier about the prospect of giving birth after watching the video at our antenatal classes. the lady was quite calm and quiet and not screaming all over the place like on tv. i realise not all births are like that, but it made me feel better about the whole process....having said that, jack was a c-section and now i'm freaking again about having to push a baby out

Oh and I finally did my polycose test...one week late but never mind...went funny colours again and felt sick but at least it's over and hopefully I don't have to do another one!!
Hey is anyone else finding that they seem to be feeling more uncomfortable and like thier bump is "tighter"? It's a weird feeling but everything seems to be feeling tighter and harder if that makes sense.

ah no Paws it woudl have been nice to meet someone form this forum - bummer!
I have the map in front of me and it says to park in teh visitors car park and then go into the building on teh left of teh mainb entrance called "lower ground floor" and look for conference room 3 or seminar room 1.
I have a scanner here, I can scan it into an email if you like and send it to you...?
My bump feels heavier, just heavier and I am starting to not like bending down very much!!! I am not very big yet but I feel really uncomfortable when I bend over - it must look so dramatic - me going "oohhh ohhh" when I am beinding over but having a realtively smallish bump still ha ha!

Ummmmm....honestly? I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know and I felt like the geeky kid giving all the answers and comments. I am hoping that everyone else will start to get a bit more chatty as time goes by.
I think B is going to get a lot out of the course though and I'm looking foward to the videos (I'm wierd I know!) and the hospital tour.
I was also suprised to discover that there are lots not due until October so and and I are probably going to be amoung the first couple to have our bubs.
It was nice to see other big bumps though on girls who aren't quite so far along as me...helped reinforce that I'm not that abnormal (though I knew that already even though some might debate it! *lol*)

ah, thats a bit dissappointing I guess, but I suppose when I think about it I might be quite similar - having trawled through every site about pregnancy avaiable and read so much I think maybe there is going to be a lot of stuff that I might have already read or asked about...but it's always good to hear it from a professional I suppose.
I have been so hungry today, I have eaten non-stop, it's terrible!

Yeah I've read non-stop (or so it feels) since we started trying and talked to tons of people not even counting all the time I spend on here!
As I say....I'm bound to get something out of it and at least I can say I've done the course.
mmmmmmm food....
