I've had enough of Plunket and want to change wellchild providers. Does anyone know if there's a central number that I can call that would tell me my local providers? The website is really out of date, gives inaccurate and incomplete info .....

Have you tried just using your GP? We had one plunket visit, didnt like the lady so we just went to our GP who is fab.

I didnt know you could use someone other than plunket - I have found them terribly useless with both of my kids. I have to chasethem for appointments - it's like we dont exist! Tane has only ever been checked twice...

i just rang Te Pua Waitanga and they changed me over and sorted everything out..they are brilliant...aimed at younger Maori mothers but they take on anyone.

I think the options are in the well child book?

That's a real shame
My Plunket have been nothing but awesome and accommodating.

I hope you can find something better suited

My GP is great but doesn't have things like accurate scales (which we need due to the heart problems). It's just really frustrating that it's not easy to access information about something that is apparently really important. Oh well, guess we'll just use the Cardiology service as our wellchild provider - we seem to see them more than Plunket

To add - yep Foureyes, there is one Maori provider in our area so I may contact them.

The wellchild website was quite amazing - had random people with only their first name listed. I googled one woman's email addy and it turns out she's a "large" woman who is trying to normalise largeness in children (and remove the stigma associated with it). No mention of any health qualifications

I think you'll find most wellchild providers are cr*p No offence intended to anyone specific, but just what I've heard from other mothers.

We are considering switching TO plunket, as we are with Te Puawaitanga (have been from the start) - Jack's first nurse was fab and always kept appointments etc but she retired and we are still waiting on a date for a 15mo check even though I've rung them numerous times. It's always 'I'll get x to call you this afternoon'. Blardy useless. At least with Plunket they have rooms that you can just turn up at and complain in person, TPW do it at your home (and if you're young they treat you like an idiot).
