Ok my original question was.
How long can she sit on the benefit? She has been on it since the child was 2, he is now 17yrs old. Maintenance will still be paid, so it is not about that or reporting her. Her BF has been there for the last 14yrs & she works for family, she has never been caught so she is a professional at not getting done. |

| Twenty years ago I had a friend who claimed the dole but worked after hours (if you get my drift) and made a lot of money doing it - can you guess what happened ... and she never knew it was me - sorry why should we work 40+ hours to pay for others to do this! You don't need to tell them your name etc they are just glad to catch these people out, I have never once regretted it. |

hannibal I agree with you. I did not do anything as I don't want the child, never got on.
Oh & she has been reported but she is way to smart for them, 15yrs 1 child  (he is 17 now) says it all really.

isnt it 19 now? I know my auntie has to pay child support on her tiny almost non existent wage to my uncle who earns heaps and my cousin is 18 and working part time as well as doing 7th form. -------------

thats what i thought i reckon it must have been changed pretty recently cos i told my auntie to look into it because she shouldnt be paying for my 18yr old cousie but apparently its 19 - it seems silly to me -------------

To qualify for child support, the child must be: * under 19 years of age * a New Zealand citizen or "ordinary resident" in New Zealand * not married or in a de facto relationship * financially dependent, that is, not working more than 30 hours a week on average, or receiving a benefit or student allowance. The paying parent must pay until their child turns 19. It will stop before this if the child starts: * living with them full time * work full time (30 hours a week or more) * receiving a benefit or student allowance * living in a de facto relationship or marries. -------------
